12DP IUI - Time to Give Up?

I feel like my dream of becoming pregnant is just over for me.

I'm on IUI no.5 and am 12DPiui today - tested this morning and this evening and got a stark white both times.

I know IUI has such a low success rate, but I really thought that this time would work as I had two good follicles and had a trigger.

Not sure if there's any hope this cycle - has anyone had a BFP later than 12dpiui/13dpo?
I feel like I'm clutching at straws but any success stories would be appreciated.

Sorry can't offer you advice, do you know medically why you are not falling pregnant? Has your partners sperm been tested like dna fragmentation?
I've had 2 rounds of ivf to find out my eggs a very bad quality, so will be going aboard for better testing soon and a 3rd ivf a natural ivf.
I wouldn't say give up no way! Either just move on to ivf or get more tests x

I'm using donor sperm which the clinic confirmed was of good quality.

I am beginning to think there may be an issue with my egg quality, so IVF sounds like the next sensible step.

Good luck with your round of ivf, hope you see those two lines! X

You could just need something as simple as a hycosy to flush any gunk out of your tubes! Fertility is a mystery, I hope you get them 2 lines soon too ✨️

@Clocloxx may I ask what tests were carried to find this out?

The egg quality? I think the only way to know your egg quality is when you do ivf unfortunately, but there's lots of other tests that could help find the cause of infertility 😁

@Rocky18 No success story to share of IUI unfortunately. I did 4 rounds of medicated IUI (letrozole and gonal-f, ovitrelle trigger) with donor sperm as a same sex couple, in my early 30s, normal AMH, no medical issues / reason to think there was a fertility issue. 2 apparently good looking follicles at each try. All were BFNs. After the 4 rounds I decided I was fed up wasting expensive sperm, and felt the cumulative pregnancy rate dropped from that point. Just felt like it wasn't going to happen. We went on to do IVF. It took us 2 (very poor) egg collections (and finding out I don't respond well to stims!) during which I had 1 fresh embryo transfer (BFN), and a chemical pregnancy after my first FET, before we conceived DD on our second FET.

We had 2 embryos still frozen. We transferred 1 embryo in January and got pregnant with a sibling for DD on first try :)

Its very much a personal decision about whether you want to consider moving on from IUIs to IVF. I found it a very different experience - much more invasive, much more physically and emotionally draining and a lot more time consuming. But it did eventually work for us. I wish IUI had worked for us, but I do feel we made the right decision moving to IVF.

Thanks @2mumlife, your situation is very similar to ours and we just feel we're throwing away our money on IUI and are struggling with the emotional toll with each BFN.

We've decided to look further into the IVF route, as the success rate is supposed to be much better - so pleased to hear it worked for you both!

Fingers crossed

@Rocky18 Most research suggests IUI has the best success rates after 3-4 cycles, and then the success rate really starts to dwindle, so its worth considering options. It is a very different experience doing IVF, and a LOT more expensive. Best of luck whichever route you decide to go down
