FET advice

After 9 times trying with OE we have taken the DE route. The first transfer unfortunately did not take.

Since then I've had immunology tests and hysteroscopy done which I am currently on antibiotics to deal with an infection. This will be first time with FET, I have irregular periods and so we are looking to transfer in July.

Can anyone here give me some pointers to what you did to prepare.

It's been such a tough journey I feel like I've fallen off the wagon with accupuncture, self care, food, exercise, headspace 😞

Hi there, sorry you have had such a tough time of it.
For FET preparation my clinic advised me to take conception vitamins and extra vitamin D (keep up the vitamin D in general). No special preparation for diet etc other than a healthy diet. I very rarely drink alcohol anyway so I just avoid completely around the time of transfer and until after test date.

Looking after yourself well is important. I find it easier to have nice healthy foods in ahead of transfer and don’t let myself get hungry!

Will you have a medicated FET? You might find it less intense than fresh transfer coming so soon after egg collection and all the associated stress.

Thanks @daisypizza it will be non medicated. At present just waiting for period to come then will have the progynova and cyclogest before transfer.

I've just been reading posts about embryo glue so I might ask for this as well.

How did it go for you for your positive ?

@Rosequartzz sounds like you’ve had a really difficult journey so far. We had two failed transfers before getting lucky on the third try, which was a FET. It was extremely tough going through the failed transfers.

My advice would be to try not to worry too much. I know it’s easier said then done but I think we can create a lot of stress for ourselves in overthinking what we should eat/do/not do, when it’s generally up to the embryo as to whether it works or not. Having said that I minimised stress during the 2WW, watched a comedy show every day to laugh and just did some gentle exercise.

Fingers crossed this round is successful for you. Feel free to ask any questions x

@Runner77 thank you for your advice and kind words. Can you let me know if there were any supplements you did or did not have including the exercise you did.
I'm taking the time off work for this round but I do want to keep moving and busy. This time my husband will also take time off so we can do things together

I took a daily pregnancy multivitamin and focused on eating well. I had a break from running (until 7 weeks) but did lots of walking instead. I also modified my usual gym routine to reduce the intensity and skip any jumping, explosive type movements. It was really more for my own reassurance than following any particular advice. Obviously a lot of women continue their normal exercise regimes before they even realise they are pregnant, but I wanted to make sure I at least felt like I hadn’t done something to compromise my chances.

Good luck, fingers crossed for you

Hi I’m not sure if your clinic offers it but have you tried the ERA to check you are transferring at the right time? Also embryo glue might be worth a try for recurrent implantation failure. My husband and I have met with a fertility counsellor a number of times. I also found a little IVF Positivity Planner on Amazon which I have been using. Meditation has been good for me too, you’ll find lots on YouTube if you search for FET meditation or two week wait meditation. Not sure if you have had thrombophilia bloods checked too? Best of luck!

Rosequartzz · 20/06/2024 08:03

@Hopefulsummer35 I've had thrombophilia with no concerns reported. The hysteroscopy showed infection which is under treatment.

I'm going to ask for the embryo glue. I've seen the ERA is performed with the same process as hysteroscopy so I'd assume this has been looked into as well. For confirmation I will ask the clinic
