Has anyone transferred three embryos?

We have three embryos left, one 3AA and two EB, we used a egg donor for our treatment. Last year we transferred two embryos and I had a chemical pregnancy, we recently transferred another two embryos which didn't implant.
Just curious has anyone transferred 3 embryos? We think this would most likely be the last time. Any experience, any success? Is there anything you did differently?

We did two and had twins.

I would only ever transfer one at a time! 🤣

i think most clinics would be reluctant due to the risks associated with multiples during pregnancy etc. my clinic won’t even transfer 2 for this reason (which is a bit extreme). I think the risk of triplets might be a bridge too far for your clinic but you can certainly ask!

@IslandsintheOcean I don't know if my consultant would be willing to let me transfer 3 at once, but with my history and what's happened, if he would be more for it.
Congratulations on your twins 😁

@AprilTTC I think my consultant may well be me against it, but I'll run it by him at my follow-up. Just with everything that has happened and my history. I was thinking of two again and if they defrosted OK, then to maybe donate the remaining one, but my husband isn't keen on doing that.

@Rainbowsunshine81 how young is your donor?

I'd be concerned that you may have issues for implantation failure. Have you done testing?

I'd do testing before transferring more, specially if it's your last one. I know in overseas clinics they do transfer 3 embryos but you have to be aware of the risk of twins. Unlikely that the 3 will implant.

If I already had one child, I'd transfer the 3 embryos knowing they may be twins but if no child, I'd transfer 2 to have another go with the last one. After 3 IVF failed implementation you can see a Reproductive Immunologist.

I'm seeing multiple specialists and you may need extra medicine such as Prednisone and blood thinners, you could ask about the Bondi Protocol for ET.

Have you checked your NK cells? Have you had a hysteroscopy and look for endometritis?

@Olivie12 in their twenties. I've had natural killer cell blood testing done and CD3 came back at 91.7 which is higher than it should be. My consultant recommended I have intraplids, I had one infusion about 7 days before we went to Cyprus for the transfer.

I have a son who was conceived naturally, before him I had a miscarriage, then two more miscarriages after him, failed ivf using my eggs, then last year a chemical pregnancy with two donor eggs and then most recently no implantation.

I will write down the bondi protocol, I haven't heard of that. I haven't had a hysteroscopy, but will put that to my consultant. I just don't want to waste more embryos.

If you really want another child I would see a Reproductive Immunologist. There are very few per country but totally worth it. I saw multiple specialists with hundreds of tests and nobody could tell me why I had multiple miscarriages after struggling with infertility.

At the end in a blog like this, I got recommended to a doctor. My tests are borderline, like I don't have a big deal of issues but still miscarry healthy babies (according to the D & C testing,).

Your consultant may prescribe you the right medicine (intralipids) but if it's not the right dose it won't help you. These medicines have to be carefully balanced, if you have too much of them it can also cause implantation failure. The one I'm seeing checks your bloods at the start of treatment then before a transfer. The meds I'm taking have to be taken 2 months prior to transfer. Check the FB group Reproductive immunology Support, you can find lots of information there.

My guess is that you're not on the right protocol for your issues. Also, sometimes the first immune protocol doesn't work but the second (different treatment) works. So, I would them transfer only one or 2 so you could have another go.

I'm going to look into a reproductive immunologist. I think I'm a member of that group on Facebook. How did you find a immunologist?
I think I'm definitely going to mention any further investigation, etc.

Someone recommended me my Dr but in that FB group on the tabs you can find the list of "recognised" doctors per country.

The testing they make is completely different to the one that fertility specialists make, they are very detailed.

Best wishes

@Olivie12 Thank you, I'll have a look. That sounds really good what they do. Thank you again.

I'm pretty sure that in the UK clinics are not allowed to transfer more than 2 as it is dangerous and unethical. It's also highly irresponsible and carries a huge risk to you and the potential triplets (or quads) in terms of pre term births not to mention the cost to the nhs of looking after the children (min £1000/ night per child).

FYI I used to work in a neonatal intensive care and saw this first hand from couples who had been to Greece etc and then delivered triplets at 28 weeks for example

@Cariadxx Thank you for replying and your advice. I really appreciate it.
