AMH 11 & AFC 7 looking for IVF success stories

So it's looking like we're going to be starting IVF in the autumn and I'm feeling really nervous about the uncertainty of it. It's a lot of money for possibly nothing in return.

I've had a consultation with our local clinic, had a Hycosy, and AMH test. AMH is 11 which she said is on the low side, AFC was technically 9 but if doing IVF she said she wouldn't touch one of my ovaries because of cysts, so realistically it's 7. I'm 38, but will be 39 when we start. So basically I'm looking to find out for people with similar results how many cycles it took you to get a BFP if at all?

I've fallen pregnant easily twice in the past but the last time was ectopic which ruptured so no longer have that tube, we've been trying a year since that and nothing. My remaining tube is on the side with the cysts and I'm worried they are blocking the tube from picking up eggs from the good ovary even though Hycosy showed an open tube.

Your numbers aren’t on the low side for your age at all. I’m 37 and my AMH is 3.9 and my AFC 5/6. I just did my first cycle and am pregnant from my first transfer (fingers crossed it stays 🤞). It’s definitely more about quality than your count and your AMH, they are just small pieces of the puzzle. Either way, your numbers aren’t scary low, so don’t panic ☺️

Good luck on your cycle x

I was 33 when I had my first egg collection cycle in Feb this year, AMH 3.9, AFC was 8. They managed to get all 8 eggs, but only 6 fertilised, of which 3 made to day 5. Our first transfer was a fresh transfer which sadly failed to implant. but second transfer was frozen transfer was a success and now 8w - so your stats are not bad at all :)

On being unable to get all the eggs because of cysts, have you had a second opinion? It might be worth it, the first clinic my husband and I went to for IVF consultation said we weren't suitable for IVF/ICSI and would need donor sperm. We went to a different clinic for second opinion and said we could absolutely do ICSI - we did not use donor sperm!

@HopefulllHolly thank you that's reassuring. Consultant basically just said I'm old and amh is on the low side.
@Lavendermarshmallows thank you, we haven't gone for a second opinion yet. I plan to closer to the time, one of the main issues is that this clinic is easy to get to, the others are 1 hour+. This consultant did also suggest surgery prior to IVF, which I could do under my work health insurance I think, but I had a surgery last year to remove a 10cm one and within 4 months a new one was back so I'm quite reluctant to go through another surgery. My plan was to have a second child then do whatever it takes to stop these recurring cysts. The 10cm one didn't hurt but I'm in daily pain with the 4cm one, I'm worried another surgery would just add more pain.

@Confusedddddddd Honestly I’d have been thrilled with your numbers! 😊 Make sure you’re taking supplements for egg quality - CoQ10 600mg, Vitamin D high strength, Omega and a good quality fertility vitamin. I cut all sugar, alcohol and caffeine out too and ate high protein very low carb diet for 6 months before starting. No idea if it made a difference but my eggs were good quality by the end of it🙂. Good luck! And definitely don’t stress about the numbers just do what you can to help where she might make the quality a bit poorer. (So annoying when we aren’t even that old!!)
