Hi everyone,

My partner and I have been TTC for 19months now and have finally been referred to Guys and St Thomas' for a face to face consultation (we've had all our tests done, I have PCOS and partner has poor morphology).

The consultation is in July, does anyone have any idea how long we might be waiting before actually starting treatment? NHS funded, so there's little info online.

Appreciate this will differ for everyone but any kind of indication would be helpful.

Thanks in advance! xx

Thanks both for your responses.
@Happyclappy22 I'm so sorry your transfer failed, I wish you so much luck for next time 💗
@SamVan we have seen consultants each appointment or drs, whatever they are! We are yet to see the same people and as you say, have been told different things by different people. We have sent very long emails to both PALS and the actual clinic, as on further reflection we feel this appointment needs to be addressed. Also forgot to mention in my first message that the consultant said oh I was hoping you were going to say you have a bun in the oven. Incredibly insensitive in my eyes and upsetting!!

@Maybel28 yea I found some of the nurses could also be pretty rude and one left me in tears at one point. In fairness on the timing and different consultants, it is a “free” (leaving aside the tax we pay) service. However we went private after that first round even though we had three rounds. Just didn’t want to waste time as nhs can be quite slow too. Privately we could have treatments back to back each month and it was much easier to organise and balance with work.

Yeah I was left in tears once we left. Of course we appreciate the fact it's 'free' and we are so grateful to even have the opportunity to be offered it on the NHS, we are not disputing that! But over 1 year since our first appointment and no closer doesn't sit right?!
We are seriously thinking about going private aswell, we have been going back and forth on the decision for ages now but I think this recent experience will ultimately make our decision for us. Its just so expensive 😭

@Maybel28 that’s an insanely long delay. It wasn’t that long for us but they messed us around a lot telling us we could start then saying there was a wait list and delaying it. It was the most stressful period. And they were 2 hours late collecting my eggs.. If you can afford it I would go private and pgta. Our NHS round failed and we ended up doing 3 private rounds within a year and I’m now pregnant with my only euploid. It’s just so much faster and you get much kinder service privately. As fertility has some urgency we don’t regret the money we spent at all because I’d still be waiting around on the nhs transferring untested embryos. Good luck!!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask were you asked to supply scan of passport, proof of address and your marriage certificate when applying for funding?
We were told they were applying for funding for us (guys) - chased today as has been 4 weeks and heard nothing, but turns out we have to complete a questionnaire and it asks for all of the details above which I wasn't aware of needing to do so glad I chased.... We have to complete this all online so just checking this is the norm.
Thanks in advance.

Hey, I wasn’t married but did have to provide passport copies and proof of address during the application stage. Good luck with it all! X
