First time posting on here & just looking for some hope/to connect with people in a similar position to me. I’m 32, ttc for 6 months but pursuing ivf due to MFI as a result of DH’s chemo therapy treatment for leukaemia in his 20s. Our fresh cycle in Feb this year was really positive, 31 eggs collected, 24 fertilised, 11 day 5 blasts frozen (7 of which are A graded) & 2 frozen on day 6. Couldn’t have a fresh transfer due to OHSS risk. Had first FET on 15th of April & because we had such great results with fresh cycle I stupidly thought FET was bound to work first time but got BFN on my OTD yesterday. Feeling really deflated/hopeless and just all round sad. Had planned a life for this little embryo. Can anyone share any positive stories of successful transfers on their second FET? I now have it in my head none will work for us. Thanks in advance.

Wow that’s such an amazing collection ! We had 3 frozen embryos & for my first transfer I was convinced it would work ! I was sooo disappointed to see the negative. We went again 2 months later with our other 2 embryos (I couldn’t bare the thought of 3 failed ones). My body reacted to the medication quicker the second time. I did feel quite negative in the build up to the transfer but the second they were in, I was so excited ! During the 2ww I felt very faint and breathless but didn’t believe it would work. We tested at 10dp5dt and got 3+ week on a digital straight away. I’m now 15 weeks with the twins ! Sending you all the luck for your transfer !!

Thank you so much for your reply! This gives me so much hope & massive congratulations on your twins! Literally the dream. Did you have any idea why your first one failed? I haven’t had my follow up meeting yet so wondering if they will just say it was bad luck. I think because they had told us everything was perfect, my lining, the embryo etc. I was convinced it would work. Did you do natural transfers both times? & did your transfer run smoothly? The consultant took ages with our transfer, he couldn’t find his way through my cervix so wondering if this could have had an effect on our success. Did you do anything differently second time? Sorry for all the questions! I literally know no one who has been through this!

Thank you !! Don’t worry about the questions, I was in the same boat. I did 2 medicated cycles which I choose to do as I whenever I used ovulation strips I never got a peak. The clinic had investigated this & said I was fine to do natural but I didn’t want to start it to then not ovulate. So I wouldn’t think anything into natural v medicated, in fact it seems like lots of doctors prefer natural. It’s so frustrating but basically yes they just told us it was bad luck 😂 we are both 28, healthy & ICSI resolved our fertility issues and despite having lower grade embryos than you do, they said it’s basically a numbers game … turns out they were right but at the time I was so upset at the idea we would have to have 3 failed transfers & start a 2nd cycle before investigation 😬 Both of my transfers didn't seem “smooth”, like you they took a lot longer, were slightly painful and the doctors seemed frustrated by my titled uterus. I think once they are get it in the right place it doesn’t matter what has happened before ! The 2nd time, I was more “relaxed” with what I was doing in the prep time, I drank caffeine (which I didn’t do the first time), was more relaxed with my eating and didn’t drink any of implantation boosting juices I had before. I hope you are doing ok & are feeling a bit more positive for the 2nd transfer when you feel ready !

Your first transfer seems so similar to mine! I also have a tilted uterus & that seemed to make it harder for the dr to initially get in. I did medicated first time but wasn’t sure whether or not to change this time. & also was so strict with eating & prepping for the transfer that after I’d had it I was just desperate for some normal food 😂 so I might calm down a bit with that next time. How long did you leave it between transfers? & we’re they ok with you using two embryos? I would like to do that next time but our clinic seem quite strict on it!

Also, did you up any of your medication for your second FET? When you say you reacted quicker do you mean to the progesterone?

We did it 2 months later so the soonest we could, you just need to wait for your next period to start if you choose to do that. With the 2 embryos, we asked them to do it & they went through a few risks with us but said I would be fine with it. I did the same amount of medication but my lining built up a lot thicker and quicker. The first time I needed an extra 5 days as when I had my scan it was at 7.8mm and not 8mm like my clinic needed. The 2nd time at that same scan I was at 9.8mm. I’m not sure if those measurements are lower compared to other people but I thought it was positive !

Yes I think that’s what I’ll do too, hopefully I’ll get my period in the next week so that we can do another round in my June cycle. Oh that makes sense with the lining! I think mine was 9 something too on transfer day but I can’t remember how long it took to get there! Hoping when I speak to my consultant later this week they will give me some advice on what I could try for next time! Thank you for all of your responses & all the best with the rest of your pregnancy 🥰
