The “perfect” cycle - not so perfect

Just over a week ago I transferred a “perfect” day 5 blast, and had all the “right” symptoms and did all the “right” things but my transfer was unsuccessful.

I had a “perfect” transfer, everything went well on the day, the sun was shining and I had acupuncture before and after.

I ate Brazil nuts and beetroot, drank lots of water and pomegranate juice, took time off work and felt relaxed/positive throughout the TWW.

I experienced “implantation” cramping in the first couple of days after transfer, had some nausea, sore boobs, the “right” type of discharge etc etc etc

My period arrived on OTD and my cycle is over.

It was a complete reality check - this journey will not be straightforward and nothing is guaranteed. We will go again (this was our second cycle) and I hope we have better luck next time. But I wanted to share my experience as it’s important to recognise we can only do so much (we already hold so much guilt, worry and pressure on our shoulders as it is!)

I'm sorry your cycle didn't work and thank you for sharing. In reality what you listed has zero effect on outcome despite our wishes it did, and sadly most embryos aren't destined to become babies so cycles failing is also a normal process. I have done everything 'right' for 6 years and was lucky to have a daughter via IVF in 2021 but have been unable to conceive a sibling since, despite treatment. Last month I drank alcohol and binged on junk due to lots of consecutive social events, and conceived naturally for the first time ever 🤦‍♀️ there is so much not understood about fertility and there is often no rhyme or reason as to why things happen. The failure of this round doesn't mean it won't happen and has no bearing on your next attempt. It takes 3 transfers on average for success - wishing you luck with your next go.
