Consulting with multiple doctors at the same clinic

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to this and I'm wondering what are the "rules" or etiquettes when it comes to potentially seeing multiple doctors at the same clinic?

Background: I'm 35F with very low AMH, just had a first ICSI cycle that failed, was very unhappy with my experience with previous service provider so now switching for the next. I have spoken to different doctors from different clinics, who are giving me pretty different advices on my next cycle, so I'm thinking to speak to 1/2 more.

One of the clinics is quite small with a small number of consultants. The doctor there that I have already seen is the most "senior" one, but I got the feeling that he'd be too busy for me as he didn't read my files properly and didn't ask enough questions and I had to volunteer information. Now I'm hesitating whether I should speak to another consultant there, I'm wondering: 1) is it common practice for the patient to consult with multiple doctors at the same clinic? I understand eventually I need to just go with one I guess. 2) would the doctor I'm planning to see be influenced by the advice given by the previous doctor, or maybe if they don't want to contradict the previous doctor?

Any insights would be so appreciated. Thanks a lot!!

Hi, I have never consulted with two doctors at the same clinic. But bear in mind that in many clinics treatment plans are discussed and decisions are taken by a group of doctors. Your consultant will be in charge but will receive input from others. Of course I have no idea how much influence the discussions have. This certainly was the case in my first three cycles (at two different clinics). I would say that in a small clinic the likelihood of this happening is probably higher.

This is very helpful insight. Thank you so much

Hey, my doctor was recommended by my friends, so I never really considered seeking out another specialist. However, I believe it's always a sensible step for patients to consult with another doctor, whether it's within the same clinic or elsewhere, if they feel it could be beneficial. A great example is fertially.com, where multiple experts provide answers to questions. You'll often find that fertility specialists might have different opinions on certain matters. So, if you think seeking another opinion could be helpful for you, don't hesitate to ask your clinic about it. Your health and well-being should always come first.
