Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@lemons44 I just googled those meds and it’s all about preventing bacterial infections. My Prague doctor told me to use oral and vaginal probiotics for the same purpose. Perhaps ask them again why it’s done like this? I was told unnecessary antibiotics might mess with the natural environment, but then again, different clinics/doctors do do things differently!

@blahblahetc I'm in Australia so it was Wednesday for me but this is my third day.
I had a fresh done back 2 months ago which didn't stick.
This is my first frozen and I've got one more in the bank.
@beachbum85 I'm not sure how I feel atm.
Last time I got spotting on this day and my period started not long after and I'm having some cramping which feels exactly like I'm getting my period.
It annoys me how they say it feels the same-it would be helpful if implantation cramping felt different so we could tell 🤣

I've had slight cramping pretty much since I had the transfer. Anybody else??

OchreDeer · 13/04/2024 07:08

@blahblahetc I actually wasn't prescribed the aspirin, I just read somewhere that a low dose was 150mg so that's what I did. I had my eggs collected at almost 41 and used a sperm donor (have another child which my wife gave birth too). My eggs have been used in the past as I've been a donor before, I believe there are 4 other babies out there from my eggs. I had really, really low expectations to be honest and even though I had 2 more frozen after these, id already decided not to do anymore because I was finding it too hard on my body with the hormones and the emotions. So I went in with doing acupuncture this time and I have to say, I would definitely recommend it, it is SO relaxing, genuinely takes you to another place. Im now 9dpt, still looking pregnant and will find out what the double situation is in a few weeks all going to plan. I actually requested a double on the second but they refused and preferred to wait for 2 failed. They also did at that point all of the blood tests to check for autoimmune diseases etc. Good luck to you, it's really hard going

blahblahetc · 13/04/2024 08:37

@OchreDeer I hear you. I was 39 quickly approaching 40 when I started the journey, so I’m in the ‘older’ category too. 1 in 4 is normal they say… I too don’t think will be going for another EC if none of them works. Don’t really want go there mentally but feel I have to prepare and have a plan B.

Do you want twins? I would love that 😅When is beta HCG?

Serendipity24 · 13/04/2024 10:16

Hi @2024forthewin how are you feeling today about the progesterone level? Did you talk to the clinic?

@OchreDeer I just wanted to thank you for donating eggs. The generosity of people like you gives hope to women like me to have a child. You are amazing 🤗

MotherOfShihTzus · 13/04/2024 12:56

@2024forthewin My progesterone on day of transfer was only 27 - on 5 pessaries a day! So I've added in lubion £168 for 2 weeks worth 😩 they did say they'd want it to be 30-35 so same as others have said, so I think you're fine 👍 levels will increase naturally if successful

blahblahetc · 13/04/2024 13:59

@MotherOfShihTzus how many mg in total per day is that please?

OP posts:
MotherOfShihTzus · 13/04/2024 14:17

@blahblahetc 2 x 400mg Cyclogest and 3 x 200mg utogestan, so total of 1400mg

blahblahetc · 13/04/2024 14:34

@MotherOfShihTzus thanks, that does sound a lot already. Im on 1200mg Cyclogest and getting my blood done for progesterone next Wed so good to have a benchmark on here.

OchreDeer · 13/04/2024 17:42

@Serendipity24 it was one of the best things I have ever done. I'd have done it again in a heartbeat if I'd have had the time at the point of deciding. I'm so happy for those families.

@blahblahetc it'll be on Wednesday that I officially test, it'll just be an at home test at the point and then wait for whatever the hospital say from there. I don't particularly want twins, no. It was the financial situation that made me as for 2 really, I felt I was doubling my chances on what I'd decided was my last attempt. I'm just going into this with a what will be will be attitude. Honestly, it's hard to stay positive anyway even with a positive test, trying not to get hopes too high as there still so much that could go wrong especially in these early days

lemons44 · 13/04/2024 21:11

Hi all
Sorry for the TMI question but has anybody on a medicated cycle had egg white cervical mucus? I've had it today but didn't expect it as I'm on a medical cycle which I thought stopped your ovulation.
Hoping it just means the eostrogen is doing things..

MotherOfShihTzus · 13/04/2024 23:05

Hi @lemons44 , it is a common symptom associated with oestrogen 👍 it's doing what it should :)

How do ppl stop themselves from testing early? I'm finding it a constant battle allll day. I tell myself it's to put myself out of my misery. I've managed so far but am getting weaker! Any advise?

I'm only 4dp5dt of a 6 day embryo; does this make me 9DPO or 10dpo?!

Lasagne30 · 13/04/2024 23:51

@MotherOfShihTzus I surround myself with people who don't know I am doing IVF. That way nobody talks about it and I don't want to risk taking a test in case someone sees it and then the questions begin haha 😂

2024forthewin · 14/04/2024 08:05

@MotherOfShihTzus today I’m 3dpt of a 6 day embryo so very close behind you! I’m going to start testing at 5dpt, I know I shouldn’t but that’s where I’m at in my head with it…

beachbum85 · 14/04/2024 08:33

@MotherOfShihTzus my failed FET in Feb is the only time I tested early: 5dp5dt, 7dp, 8dp, 10dp, and OTD... Seeing that BFN 5 times over instead of once was really, really hard. I spent almost a week crying, and it didn't soften the blow at all, it was just earlier and more prolonged. Previous BFNs were obviously just as devastating, but I'm adamant not to test early this time. I've put the one test I have away and am just ignoring the fact that testing early is even an option, and distracting myself away from any urge. Stay strong! 💪🏼

Of course, no judgement at all @2024forthewin! I know really testing is better for many people, I've just found out it isn't for me.

@Lasagne30 so, so annoying that all symptoms are the same! I haven't had cramping but just a bit achy around the ovaries sometimes 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's hard to think anything might be happening in there when I can't feel anything!

@OchreDeer totally agree on the acupuncture... I love it!

Hope everyone else is doing well today!

MotherOfShihTzus · 14/04/2024 09:53

You're right, @beachbum85 - my feb fresh transfer was a chemical; I tested positive early, but the intensity of the anxiety and stress watching that test get lighter before OTD, is something I never want to experience again - I need to hold on to that!

MotherOfShihTzus · 14/04/2024 09:54

And thank you @beachbum85 - just what I needed to hear, and so sorry for your feb result. Cruel cruel journey to be on x

lemons44 · 14/04/2024 10:12

Thanks @MotherOfShihTzus
For those on progynova do you mind me asking what dose you were/are on?

MotherOfShihTzus · 14/04/2024 10:16

@lemons44 I'm on 4x 2mg a day

Serendipity24 · 14/04/2024 10:30

@lemons44 I was on 3x 2mg Progynova

lemons44 · 14/04/2024 11:17

@MotherOfShihTzus re your question on what DPO you are, the way I understand it (I'm not an expert so could be wrong) but is that with 6 day embryos the reason why they can only freeze them and not put them in your body on a fresh transfer is because they are obviously slower to develop than day 5 ones so putting them in fresh means they are not in synch with the uterine lining. Then they transfer them on a frozen cycle on what would be the equivalent of day 5, so they are synched up? So in other words if you were 4dp5dt of a day 6 blast it would be 9dpo? Because your body doesn't know about the sneaky extra day in the lab?

I'm interested in this as I have a day 6 frozen too.

I found this useful:

Does this mean that day 6 blastocysts are bad?
No. What it means is the blastocyst is not in sync with the uterine lining. For this reason, if there are no expanded blastocysts (expansion stage 2-4) on day 5, it is best to freeze any blastocysts that do develop on day 6 versus transferring them into the uterus on day 6. In this way, we can optimize the synchronization of the lining and the embryo in a future frozen embryo transfer. Studies have shown a low pregnancy rate (around 15% per transfer) when day-6 blastocysts are transferred. However, if they are frozen (cryopreserved) and transferred in a subsequent cycle, the pregnancy rates are once again excellent (around 50% per transfer).

Bnichols89 · 14/04/2024 11:52

Hi everyone, I'm due my first FET on 30th April. I had my first egg retrieval in Feb but overstimulated so had to do a freeze-all. I'm doing a medicated cycle so started 6mg Elleste on Thursday. So far have felt really nauseous on the oestrogen, has anyone else had that? Otherwise fine. First scan will be on 23rd April.

LouP87 · 14/04/2024 11:58

@lemons44 im on 4 x 2mg per day progynova

Choose2bgr8ful · 14/04/2024 12:20

@lemons44 I'm on 5 x 2mg progynova

blahblahetc · 14/04/2024 13:22

Interesting to see the varying doses, I’m on 2mg x 3 fematab/estrofem - I think they are the same thing?

Thanks for the information on day-6 embryos @lemons44

Welcome @Bnichols89 the only side effect I feel from the estrogen is feeling like I’m putting on layers around my mid-section 😅

Im an early tester, I think it’s easier for me to gradually come to terms if it’s a negative. And also based on the FRER Reddit post, I want to know when it implanted, should it be be a BFP. I tested on day 5 in my first ET and only got a very faint at 8dp5dt - so was not hopeful and it turned out to be a chemical.

@Sunflower360 How are you?

@Serendipity24 @Lasagne30 Any symptoms?

@Eljane34 Has your lining thickened?

The answer is probably no but does anyone know if a day-3 and day-5 can be transferred together?

Hope you are all keeping well on this sunny (UK) day!
