HyCoSy waiting time

Hi,
We have been referred to fertility and the only remaining investigation needed is a HyCoSy - even though we will likely require IVF ICSI anyway due to male factor issues.

I've been advised to call up on Day 1 of my period which I did and have been told there is no availability this time (we have been referred on NHS for this). They advised to call next month.

I asked if there is a long wait and she said it depends on availability but sometimes can be up to 3 tries to get an appointment.

It is very frustrating having to wait for another cycle isn't it.

Is there anything I can do to speed up process? Is it worth paying privately?

I also don't see how it is likely going to change management because we will need IVF anyway for male factor.

Thanks

I had my Hycosy carried out today following the first appointment at the fertility clinic (NHS) in October. They booked it following the appointment and luckily it fell in the first half of my cycle this month.

We also have MFI so I was unsure about whether or not to go ahead with it but after asking on here a couple of weeks ago I decided to go ahead in case it identified anything else that might inform our IVF plans.

They couldn't get the fluid to go through my tubes and said it doesn't necessarily mean they're blocked, it just didn't work. I mentioned to the Dr who carried it out that we'd recently had the SA results identifying high antisperm antibodies and she said there's no point doing any further investigative testing on my tubes (I can't remember what the keyhole procedure is called) as we'd probably be looking at ICSI at the next step.

I don't know if any of that helps, our clinic gave us the option to skip the Hycosy and go straight to IVF in October but we decided at the time to see if that identified any issues first.

Hopefully someone else comes along with more info on wait times and suggestions x

Hey,

how did you find the hycosy in terms of pain and discomfort? and how long did it take? i've got mine booked next week.

Similar to OP, i have rung cycle day one and they booked me in. Bizarre there is no space but i'm private so maybe why.

Hi
I had a similar Thing with HSG. Called up two months in a row and there wasn’t any space. Got in on my third attempt. It wasn’t bad, just a very brief moment of pain that I could breathe through. My dye went through ok, no blockages. We were apart the next cycle but I conceived on the second cycle for the first time ever after a long time trying. Sadly we had to terminate at 14 weeks for T18 but I do think the HSG helped me get pregnant and I sort of wish I could have it again.
