Hi, i just had a first cycle fresh transfer fail with Beta HCG of 1. Absolutely gutted and grieving but want to look into chinese medicine and accupuncture to prepare for my next. Do you recommend any particular Doctor / centre in London?

I’m so sorry to hear your cycle failed. I just want to say; even if you do ‘everything right’ it doesn’t always work

I did months of fertility acupuncture ahead of my first fresh cycle, including the day of the transfer, and it didn’t even implant.

I’ll continue acupuncture because it helped with my stims symptoms and bloating, but I wouldn’t do it specifically to improve my chances of IVF success. Make sure you’re going in with a very neutral mindset.

I'm really sorry your transfer didn't work. Unfortunately this is perfectly normal. It takes 3 transfers on average for success and doesn't mean anything is wrong, it's just bad luck. There is no evidence whatsoever that acupuncture or Chinese medicine will help, I personally wouldn't waste your money. Hopefully you'll have a follow up with your clinic to discuss plans to go forwards with? Best of luck.

Hi OP - I don't have recommendations in London, I googled and went to a few in West Midlands to enquire and did manage to find a suitable one so keep looking.

I didn't find accupuncture especially helpful but mostly because I generally don't like lying down awake for too long (I don't even have the patience for hair appointments!).

I found the chinese meds do help with our embryos' quality though. The best round we had- my husband also took the (male version) meds (he has low motility/morphology problems). We were both on it for 3 months prior to colletion and got the best quality embryos that round compared to previous rounds.

Tha said, I don't think it is absolutely necessary for the man to take the meds if going down MACS ICSI route as that process would filter out the good sperm to use anyway. We only learnt of this technology in our last and final round, husband's meds had run out and we didn't bother with it. I am still on it preparing for a FET.

Thank you, Im doing this with Donor sperm, so only need to focus on getting my egg quality and uterine health in order. Mt heart is still heavy and my follow up consultation is in a few weeks, so want to start taking action and see how i can do the best i can.
