Low sperm count results advice

Low sperm count of 1.5 M/ml, motility 35%, 4% morphology, total motile count 3M.

Has anyone got pregnant with similar results or seen a big difference with change of supplements only?

We already eat quite healthy, he's been taking a generic multi vit and omega 3,6,9 for over a year, did add coq10 about 2 months before his test, since the test he's switched to proceive plus in the hopes that will help. Never smoked or taken drugs, 1 or 2 pints beer less than once a week, more than that maybe once every 3 or 4 months, never cycles/hot baths/jacuzzi/sauna or anything like that, either none or one caffeine drink per day, exercises 3 or 4 times a week and healthy weight. Hormone blood tests came back fine. Feeling very frustrated that I don't really see what else he could do to improve it.

In terms of female fertility my cycles are 35-45 days so a bit longer and irregularish but not terrible, day 3 and mid luteal phase progesterone blood tests including thyroid all fine.

GP has not given any info or advice and managed to mess up the referral, so further delay to getting a fertility clinic appointment. From Google it seems IVF with ICSI is going to be best shot but not much info on natural conception chances with low sperm counts. Will we get this straight away on NHS or be asked to keep trying naturally for longer? (it's been just over a year and we're based in Nottingham). Assume I will still need Hycosy and further blood tests first?

Hi,
My other half had similar results, he’s got a high sperm count but motility and morphology not great. The doctor referred us based off of his results but we’d been trying for longer than you, I think they’d refer you at this stage anyway though, we just got stuck in a bit of a testing loop and changed GPs from moving plus covid.
Im thankful for the NHS but they were not helpful to us, they didn’t give us any info and we really had to push for tests and referral. We ended up just assuming we should go privately so got our baseline scan and started the process with a clinic, but when we met with the consultant they said we should get our first cycle with the NHS and helped us to get our GP to unblock our referral which we are so grateful for.
So definitely keep the pressure on your GP for that referral!

Thanks @HopefulllHolly the GP initially said they would refer us straight away in December which was great but the GPs secretary did it wrong so it wasn't actually sent... They have now sent it and the fertility clinic said it shouldn't be a long wait to first appointment so hopefully we'll get some answers soon, but the GP literally said don't know to every question we asked and offered no interpretation of the results other than 'low count' so still unsure on the chances of getting pregnant naturally, whether to expect improvement or what the next steps will be.

Yeah your GP sounds like ours! I guess if you’re ovulating and your partner has some swimmers there’s always a chance of getting pregnant naturally, it’s just how long it takes. Hopefully the clinic and consultants will help! It’s so frustrating to not have answers from your doctor though to stop you worrying. I hope you get on the list quickly and get some info to help put you a bit at ease x

I've shared this on here before under a different username, but don't mind repeating it in case it ever helps anyone.

My DH was diagnosed with a very low sperm count/morphology. I don't recall the numbers (was many years ago) but we were told our chances of conceiving naturally were extremely unlikely. We did the same as you - took supplements, changed our diets etc, but nothing seemed to work. We even had a round of IVF which was unsuccessful.

Then someone told me about another 'trick'. Straight after you've made love and he's ejaculated, lie with your hips slightly raised with a pillow (so sperm doesn't run out). Then either you or your DH stimulate your clitoris so that you orgasm.

When you have an orgasm, the hormones that are released make your cervix contract, causing it to repeatedly dip in and out of the vagina. It’s those muscular contractions, or the “cervical dip” as it's known, that help guide the sperm up into your body to facilitate pregnancy.

Worked for me. I got pregnant with my DD after a few attempts of trying this. Two years later I had a second child after trying it again (having used no birth control during the intervening months). Even if you decide to pursue IVF or ICSI, no harm in trying while you're waiting.

Thanks @2Old2Tango I quite often orgasm at the same time as DH but maybe after could be more useful, worth a try!
