Natural Modified Cycle

I’m 41, with low AMH of 3.6 - I’ve recently completed my 2nd IVF cycle and sadly just had my second miscarriage in a year. I’m starting to feel a bit more positive again as I’ve been getting some consultations booked in. I’ve been recommended Natural Modified Cycle and was wondering if anyone could share further info or their experience? Thank you

@NP145 I've had 2 x natural modified cycles and then a third one was mild (my first cycle was high stims but that was a disaster and failed)

In my first natural modified I got 5 eggs, of which a day 3 and a blastocyst was frozen. In the second natural modified I got 2 eggs and a blastocyst frozen. For the third cycle I did mild IVF as my response was good in the natural modified cycles and I got 7 eggs of which I got 5 blastocysts frozen.

My AMH at the time was 4.3 pmol and I'm 38. I'm at Create Fertility who specialise in low ovarian reserves.

As yet to find out if the embryos are any good as I'm pending a FET.

With natural modified the aim is quality over quantity, aim being to get the naturally selected egg for the month. Hope that helps

I did natural modified for my FET in 2021. The egg collection was using menopur and a trigger - we got 3 eggs, 2 day 5 embryos. We did a freeze all and transferred one via fet two months later which was successful.

We tried another modified natural fet but the trigger didn't work this time and I didn't ovulate, doc then started me on estrogen (lining was already 8mm) to maintain lining, then we started progesterone 5 days before the transfer. I'm in my TWW now.

thank you @Sunflower360 @lori2019 I really appreciate you coming back to me. Wishing you both all the best with your treatment

I've found your responses very useful as there isn't much info out there and I always think it's better to speak to woman that have been through it. I guess for me, after what's happened..I'm trying to figure out next steps and what will be the best move for me. From an emotional, time and cost point of view, I feel like the pressure is on and we have to get our next move right.

So with a NMC, did you go back to back with the aim it to get quality rather than quantity? And was this with screening too?

My first cycle was long protocol and we collected 6 eggs, day 5 blastocyst and 2nd cycle was short, we collected 3 eggs, Day 2 transfer. What with both ending in miscarriage, I believe it's about finding the right chromosome embryo for live birth success.

@NP145 yes I think with low AMH my clinics stance is very much quality over quantity, and I do agree seen as I had such a rubbish first round at another clinic with max stims (failed fertilisation). I haven't actually transferred anything as yet so quality is yet to be tested

I think as you get older do you need more embryos to find a euploid and with only 2 transfers you may need another go, perhaps PGTA testing could be an option for you? I personally have decided against it at the moment but it is a personal decision

@Sunflower360 fingers crossed for you

My most recent consultation (at a different clinic to my previous), they strongly advised PGTA testing for me

Did you do your NMC back to back? I assume the purpose of this is to save on time and maximize chances of getting a good chromosome embryo

@NP145 first 2 I did but then I took a month's break before doing the 3rd one which ended up being mild IVF

NP145 · 01/02/2024 18:03

@Sunflower360 ah ok, I see. I understand it a bit better now, thank you
