Monitored cycle / HCG trigger / timed intercourse

Hi all,

A niche one but I wondered if anyone else is doing / has done a monitored cycle before? I’m currently having an unmedicated one with a HCG trigger to time ovulation, timed intercourse and then progesterone support. Going in tomorrow (CD14) for another scan and hoping follicles look ready for the trigger 🤞 if it doesn’t work this month will do the same but with Letrozole next month. Would be interested to hear from anyone in a similar boat!

@hopingforapeainapod no squinting required, that is definitely a line! It looks thicker than the earlier one too. I know this isn’t helpful but I’m SO hopeful for you!

UserL95 · 14/02/2024 00:55

@hopingforapeainapod i can see the lines in the pictures too!! 🤞

hopingforapeainapod · 14/02/2024 08:26

@Sierra26 @UserL95 I did another test this morning, second line came up quickly and it’s a bit darker and thicker than yesterday afternoon’s and is definitely pink so I’m sure it’s not an evap 🥺 it’s sooo early on and I’ve got a long wait ahead of me (clinic told me to test on Saturday and Monday - 14dpo and 16dpo, and I’m only 11dpo today) but I am tentatively holding out hope 🤞

@hopingforapeainapod ah wow! ❤️ It really wouldn’t make any sense for that to be related to the trigger given the tests you’ve had in between…

If you’re testing pos on 14/16dpo were you told to phone your clinic? Would they scan you? Do you keep taking the progesterone?

Sorry can’t help but think about all the questions I’d be asking 🤣🤣

hopingforapeainapod · 14/02/2024 10:23

@Sierra26 yes so I was told by the clinic to take a test on Saturday (14dpo) and Monday (16dpo) and then I think if I want I can also come in for a blood test? They told me to keep taking the progesterone, not sure how long for though! I think you can go for a ‘reassurance scan’ around 6 weeks - I don’t think they can really see much before then! I’m going to be a nervous wreck all week - Monday can’t come quick enough!!

@hopingforapeainapod how are you today?

hopingforapeainapod · 15/02/2024 09:22

@Sierra26 I’m okay thanks! I’m a little bit nervous because I don’t think this mornings test looks any darker than yesterday afternoons (top is yesterday morning, middle is yesterday afternoon and bottom is this mornings) but I think there is clearly progression between top and bottom! DH is starting to get a bit excited too 🥺 I‘ve just picked up some clear blue and first response tests too so will try one of those this afternoon 🤞 how are you doing?

That looks like progress to me @hopingforapeainapod ! How exciting!

My tests are still BFN. Tiny bit of spotting today again which I’m assuming is end of cycle rather than progesterone. Not sure if AF will start naturally on its own while on the progesterone, did your consultant tell you that at all? Expecting it to start tomorrow or Saturday

hopingforapeainapod · 15/02/2024 19:26

@Sierra26 my clinic said to stop taking progesterone if I got a bfn 16dpo and then my period would start in a few days - not sure if a period would start naturally while you’re still taking progesterone? I think ask your doctor and maybe explain about the spotting as well? I’m really sorry it hasn’t worked out for you this month, I really hope you have some better luck soon xxx

Thanks @hopingforapeainapod thats helpful! Keep us posted if you go for your blood test 🤞🏻❤️

UserL95 · 17/02/2024 22:39

@hopingforapeainapod fingers crossed!!
@Sierra26 hope you’re doing okay x

Sierra26 · 19/02/2024 07:38

Thanks @UserL95 , I’m now 17dpo (AF 4 days late compared to my normal my luteal phase), bfn, finished the progesterone, so just waiting for AF…

I expected the cyclogest to lengthen my luteal phase but not to this extent - my bbt is still high this morning though I’ve not had progesterone for 36 hrs. It must take a while for levels to fall. In a weird limbo now!

what’s your plan this month?

good luck today @hopingforapeainapod ❤️

hopingforapeainapod · 19/02/2024 12:01

thanks @Sierra26 - lines are still looking really strong and I got 2-3 weeks on a clear blue digital this morning so really hoping this is it 🤞 got a blood test on Thursday too to confirm exact hcg levels when I should be about 5 weeks! Sorry you’re still in limbo land waiting for AF to show up - I think I read somewhere that it can take between 2-7 days for periods to come after stopping cyclogest but I know the waiting game is just the worst xx

Wow @hopingforapeainapod the clear blue digital must have been so exciting!

AF finally got me today, 4 days after finishing the cyclogest. My cramps are brutal, definitely blaming the extra time my lining had to build up!

Sierra26 · 06/03/2024 07:17

Hi @UserL95 how are things going for you this cycle? I’m 4dpo / 6dpt. We didn’t make a very good go at ‘trying’ this month but we’re still in with a chance so trying to stay positive…

Hope all well with you @hopingforapeainapod !

hopingforapeainapod · 10/03/2024 11:49

@Sierra26 all going well thank you! Am about 7 weeks along now and had a reassurance scan on Thursday where I got to see a little blob with a heartbeat which was pretty surreal! Symptoms are really starting to ramp up now as well… how are you getting on??

UserL95 · 12/03/2024 23:35

@Sierra26 hey! I am cd4 and on my third cycle of letrozole now and this is my 4th cycle since hycosy so staring to lose hope again if I’m honest. I’ve been talking to my dh about ivf and were hoping to discuss with our consultant when we next meet him. After 2.5 years of trying, and now letrozole too, hope is wearing thin.
how are you doing?

Sierra26 · 13/03/2024 07:06

@hopingforapeainapod thats amazing, so glad to hear everything looked good on the scan ❤️

@UserL95 sorry to hear you’re feeling that way. That’s pretty much where I’m at tbh! I’m 11DPO on final letrozole cycle, has trigger shot and on progesterone (although I have no progesterone symptoms this month which is weird - last month my boobs were so sore/swollen by this point).

Need to do one unmedicated cycle after this as I need a few procedures and then starting ivf after that. I hope your consultant is able to get the referral for ivf going quickly if that’s what you want.

UserL95 · 15/03/2024 11:03

@Sierra26 how are you feeling about moving on to ivf?
I think I’m going to need to lose some weight first as my bmi is 34 and I’m not sure even the private clinic will accept me for that. So depending on my conversation this month I may ask to continue with letrozole but unmonitored cycles whilst I actively work on reducing my weight too

Daniki · 16/03/2024 17:33

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join? I will be doing a monitored cycle this time round with trigger shot. Iv previously done 4 rounds of 5mg letrozole with no monitoring, and no joy. This cycle im on tamoxifen for 5 days and then Iv to go for my follicle scan on CD13 which is the 26th. Should of been day before but the doctor doesn't scan on Mondays 🥹
