PCOS but no symptoms

Hi
Been TTC 11 cycles, 37 years old will be looking into IVF by this summer. I have regular 27 day cycles, blood tests have come back OK, ovusense confirms I ovulate (not sure if it's 100% accurate though)

Had a private fertility check that showed amh of 46 and 42 follicles, they said this looked like PCOS but wasn't.

My acupuncturist who specialises in fertility disagreed and says it is a type of PCOS as my follicles are so high. Have contacted my GP who said I have to go private if I want an official diagnosis. Am unsure of who to speak to or go to for further help and advice? Am confused to if I have PCOS or not

Thanks in advance

Hey OP. Recommend the book "getting pregnant with PCOS" even if you don't have a diagnosis there is lots of useful stuff in there including what blood tests to ask for. PCOS is a set of symptoms with lots of route causes so important to work out what is causing it, like insulin resistance or thyroid. Diagnosis criteria can vary as doctors don't know much about it. If you are ovulating and have regular cycles you probably don't have full blown PCOS but PCO, which is when you have Poly cystic ovaries and not the symptoms. All the info is better explained in the book. It's by Clare Goodwin xxx

I agree with the above poster it sounds maybe like you have polycystic ovaries (PCO) which is basically similar to PCOS but you don’t have symptoms/hormonal imbalances. I have this as well! You should be able to get initial referral for infertility now you have been trying that long through the GP and they would check your tubes/pelvic scan etc

Sounds like PCO / PCOD to me
This is basically pcos In the sense you have follicles on the ovary however you don't have the classic pcos symptoms like high testosterone, irregular periods ect

Thank you for the replies, I will look into that book!! I didn't realise there was a different type of PCOS, am guessing this is what my acupuncturist was talking about. I can't seem to find much info on PCO but am assuming this is stopping me from getting pregnant as my partners SA was fine!

Checking for PCOS - can be done on bloods to. GP should be able to do! They calculate for a free androgen index, and a number of>5 suggests PCOS.

Same as above - looks like you have PCO, not PCOS. To qualify for a PCOS diagnosis, you have to have at least 2 out of 3 of the following: polycystic ovaries on ultrasound, irregular periods, and high androgen / testosterone levels. I have just the first like you so was told PCO not PCOS and shouldn’t cause any problems as looks like I am ovulating, but definitely discuss with your doctor and get all your hormones checked etc!
