Adenomyomectomy

I was wondering if anyone has had this procedure and how they found it and how long the recovery process was?

I am 43 years old having had 3 failed IVF transfers. I have adenomyosis and have been advised to have this surgery by my Dr. It's open surgery so it does concern me a little.

If anyone could share their experience with this I would be grateful.

I'm getting married next year and I don't know whether to have it a few months before or wait until after the wedding.

Hello I don’t have anything to add to this I’m afraid but interested as I have adenomyosis. I’ve never heard of this procedure though?

@MrsBP15 hi its surgery that can be undertaken to remove adenomyosis lesions. It is however open surgery and would mean that if you become pregnant in the future you would have to have a planned caesarean. It also comes with some risk and might not work. It’s a last resort for me as I’ve tried down regulation twice and has 3 failed transfers. I think it can be done by laparoscopic

@Tillybabs thank you so much for getting back to me. Sounds intense but potentially worth it? I’ve got everything crossed for you that it works if you decide to go for it! I think there are some Adenomyosis threads on here, not all linked to fertility but someone there might have thoughts on this procedure?

I had valproic acid to treat my adenomyosis which had a recovery of max 48 hours. Not sure if its something available in the UK or suggested for your adeno. Worth checking with your consultant

@Rosequartzz ibe not heard of that before. What did it involve? How was it administered?

@Tillybabs I had it done at the same time as having PRP, but I am aware of someone else who has had it done at the same time as having egg collection. There is probably just a 24 hour downtime as like with egg collection
