Did you get this removed privately or via NHS?

I have a polyp but it is at the top of the cervical canal (between cervix and uterus) so don't think affects implantation but worried it may be blocking a sperm

Hi @Englishrose35 I got it removed privately (work insurance).

Ah I can't offer much advice on that re the canal. I was told depending how big the polyps are they can sometimes steal the oxygen from the lining... but I presume it's different on the canal.

Are you stuck with what to do?

@FernaFrey

Hope your procedure was OK!

I'm seeing a gynaecologist privately (self pay) and she advised a repeat ultrasound before deciding what to do. I also have a nodule ?endometriosis so may need both laparoscopy and hysteroscopy for polyp depending

We are only TTC for 6 months but I just worry about this affecting fertility plus also some borderline male factor issues ☹️

It was absolutely fine but I did have a general anaesthetic :)

Aw, I know how it is. We have been 1 year now, including 2 rounds of IVF but only found out about my polyp 9 months in... and my husband only found out about his varicocele 10 months in.

All I can say is I would get all these checks / procedures done if you can sooner rather than later... I wish we knew 6 months ago.

My consultant was very aware of my situation (TTC, wanting a baby) so he said during the procedure he will absolutely not do anything to disrupt the uterus / lining. I had 3 views on polyp removal (x 2 separate consultants and my IVF dr) they all said to remove it.

You will be absolutely fine if you have a procedure done- I know it's really nerve wracking though. I told them my concerns (too much prodding down there) but they all said no, we won't do that.

@FernaFrey Hi, can I ask if your transfer after removal was successful? I have a 5mm polyp.

FernaFrey · 17/09/2024 08:49

Hi @KW1487 I had 1 unsuccessful transfer after this but the embryo wasn't great. Then the transfer after that was a success :) It was a good embryo. I'll never know what changed as I changed a few things but turns out the polyp was 1cm instead of 7mm so it was definitely a good decision to have it removed.

@FernaFrey im waiting for my hysteroscopy. I’ve been told to plan my transfer within 3 months after. Was your success within this timeframe. I have Christmas in the way where my clinic won’t do FETs at this time.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Is there anything else what was done differently for that cycle? X

FernaFrey · 17/09/2024 10:20

Hi @KW1487 good luck with the hysteroscopy! I think it's a good thing as they can really see what's going on and remove anything if needed.
I had mine in January and my successful transfer was in May.

What was interesting though is that in March I conceived naturally against the odds! I miscarried it at 5.5 weeks but we took it as a positive because something was finally happening down there!

Thank you ❤My protocol changed where they threw alot at it. The sucessful time round I was on my highest dose of stims but most notably they put me on a steroid called Prednisone. It lowers your immune system just incase your body is attacking the embryo. We aren't sure if I needed it but they said it won't hurt to try.

It's hard to know what made a difference. In the woo woo world, I also did a lot reiki/energy healing and also continued my acupuncture.

I really hope it goes well for you- you will get there, i am sure :) xx

@FernaFrey im interested in the prednisone because I have thyroid antibodies. I may follow this up again to check if I can have it. This is my second transfer but I’d rather not have to go back x
