Any success stories of FET working at higher bmi

Due to various factors my weight has crept up and my bmi is now 32. I think I can probably get it down to 30 by transfer but should I wait another month and get it lower?

You have a better chance of success at a lower weight. Also better chance of an uncomplicated pregnancy should you be successful, so yes, definitely worth losing any weight you can. Good luck.

My BMI was 32 when I got pregnant on my 4th transfer, currently 28 weeks pregnant. I also got pregnant with a BMI of 30 on my first transfer but it ended in miscarriage.
My BMI has made no difference to me. Good luck :)

I’m currently 17weeks pregnant after first transfer. My bmi was around 29. It had been 34 and lost 3.5 stone prior to transfer.

Thats lovely @SH998 and I'm really pleased for you, but scientific evidence shows success rates are higher and pregnancy risk rates are lower with a lower BMI. You were just lucky.

Thank you, I think anyone who has success with IVF after struggling with infertility issues is very lucky.

Statistics might show a higher, more successful rate with a lower BMI but the underlying issue also needs to be taken into account. I'm no expert and can only comment from my experience but without the correct treatment I wouldn't have been able to get pregnant with a BMI of 28 or 32. In my instance my weight was not the issue.

I think it's a difficult balance @IVFlife - if you put your body under stress by getting your bmi under 30 in a short period of time, then you might not be putting your body or mind in the best place for a transfer and implantation etc. Do you find losing weight easy? Quite a personal thing as to how stressful you'd find it.

I was just under 30 when I got pregnant after my FET. I was pleased to be under 30 because the medical system (at least in my area) definitely treats you differently if you are over 30, regardless of whether you're fit and healthy or personal circumstances. Plenty of people are 30+ though and nothing is insurmountable.

Thank you all. And thanks for being honest. I'm leaning towards now waiting until February. I am good at sticking to it when I need and previously lost a fair bit quite fast. I don't feel my best just now. It really all went to shit after cycle last year didn't work.

Take care @IVFlife. It's a really tough road. Wishing you luck going forwards.

I think that sounds really sensible @IVFlife - we had a few bereavements which meant that we deferred our transfer date by several months (which included losing the weight I put on whilst I grieved) and I'm so pleased we did. Being in the right state of mind to be able to face the anxieties and demands of pregnancy (or to be sad, dust myself off and try again) was a big thing for me.

Wishing you all the best of luck with your transfer, when you get there x
