Hello

I'm 26 years old.
This month marks a year since starting TTC.
I fell pregnant after 10 months TTC however I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks😢
I was referred by my GP for fertility tests as it was coming up to a year, all tests came back okay.
It's just scaring me as it's the 1 year mark 😢
Would you continue TTC or get back in contact with fertility clinic?
Is it normal to take this long?! I can't believe it's been a year...

Xx

Hi @baby197 has your partner had a semen analysis too? This is just as important as you getting tested. Which tests did you have?

I know how hard it is to struggle with conceiving at this age. Just feels like everyone around me is getting pregnant so easily makes it so much harder! Fingers crossed it won’t be too much longer for you.

Yes he had that- came back normal.
I had bloods (AMH levels checked?), progesterone bloods, a hycosy procedure and swabs for any infections.
Is there anything else you think I need? I guess by getting pregnant a few months ago it shows my body can do it?
Honestly it really is so difficult. X x

@baby197 did you have an internal ultrasound also?

yes I would say the fact you did get pregnant is a good sign and it just takes some couples longer than others so hopefully will happen again for you soon! I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I’m sure that was really hard to go through

@baby197 Sorry to hear about your loss!

Is your period regular? Any symptoms
of PCOS? Have you had an US scan? (I assume you have as you had a hycosy)

It is up to you whether you decide to wait and see or you want to start the ball rolling ASAP.

If you decide to continue with the fertility clinic, they will likely advise to wait for another year (total 2 years of TTC) before doing any other intervention.
Some might prescribe Letrozole, some will just say wait and keep trying. They usually consider IVF after 2 years of TTC.

In most of the NHS trusts, the cut off for IVF is 35 years so you have plenty of time to decide and save up if needed.
Good luck!

Hello

My periods are regular, every 28 days.
No symptoms of PCOS. I don’t think I had an ultra sound but they checked my tubes and ovaries during hycosy?

I had ultrasounds when I was pregnant and nothing was flagged up. Or is this a different ultrasound?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Xx

If they checked everything during the Hycosy, then that should be enough.
If your period is regular, then its unlikely to be PCOS anyway.

Like you, I had a loss after 2 years of TTC and we also don't know the cause of our infertility. Not knowing is the worst part of this whole journey! Because of my age (32), I don't think I can wait anymore and starting IVF next month. In comparison, you are younger and have more options.

I would try and concentrate on building a healthy life style with good diet, exercise and walks, stop smoking and alcohol for the both of you. Try and take some prenatal supplements.
Some of my friends got pregnant by going on a holiday. Although it did not work for me, could work for you! 😅
