Advice needed- Failed IVF should I change clinics??

Hi all!
I’ve just completed my first ivf cycle and I’m looking for some advice from more experienced ivf ladies.
in a nutshell, I’m wondering if I should change clinics or question them further.
I am 40 and had previous successful pregnancy and miscarriages (12 years ago) good amh, afc and retrieved 16 eggs out of 22 follicles. All good.
Only 4 fertilised ( they said ICSI plus calcium might be tried next time, no male factor, I think they think it’s my stubborn eggs)😏
Out of the 4 that fertilised, we got 4 day 5 embryos ( 3 became blasts). Great.
However, one was 1CC (they discarded it), two were 1bb.
They transferred a 1bb midday day 5 ( I’d wanted a freeze all cycle but they suggested a fresh too. By the afternoon, the other 1bb had become a 2bb and they froze it.
11 days after transfer I’ve started to bleed heavily and tested negative.

My concerns are :
Would a 1bb midway through day 5 ever be likely to implant in time for the implantation window?

Could they have grown them to day 6 to see if they would expand, then freeze them. I feel like I’ve paid to freeze an underdeveloped blast.

During my first scan, they picked up suspected

Adenomyosis and said don’t worry about it and did nothing.

I was told at an unrelated scan in A&E 6 years ago that I’d need ‘help conceiving again’. They didn’t explain. Very odd!
my clinic seem to not investigate anything and just brush off my questions.

I understand this is the first cycle and it’s a game of chance and trial but I don’t want to throw money away, if other clinics are better without me knowing.

thank you for your answers and support
Ses xx

Personally I wouldn't change after one cycle. As long as they are trying to investigate / change things up before a second cycle (and you like your team) I would stick with them for now

As per pp, I wouldn't change clinics after 1 cycle unless there were some major red flags and/or I'd lost trust for valid reason. Their decision making all sounds fairly standard, you can ask them to go through the reasoning with you if you need reassuring. Clinics won't transfer anything with no chance of success - their success rates are important metrics. I conceived with a day 5 morula (pre-blastocyst stage) so yes it's perfectly possible (if not less likely) to have success with lower grades. There are plenty of clinicians who place much less value on embryo grading these days. Good luck for your future attempts.

I'm wasn't happy after my first round. I responded poorly to the drugs so much so they thought I was a poor responder. Blood test confirmed I wasn't and instead I changed drugs and upped the dose. It was too low for my age. I was really annoyed about my first round.
I did feel my clinic did the minimum. I was prepared to change if my second round also failed however I I am now pregnant though my second transfer on that round (FET) but I do feel a part of that is because I researched the drugs and other things like lining thickness. 7mm is meant to be enough on guidelines but a lot of research says 8mm+ is better. Mine struggled to get to 8mm on a number of scans and i kept getting dismissed by nurses that it was fine but I stood my ground and I wouldn't transfer an embryo of good quality unless it was much thicker.
I requested support drugs to help thicken my lining more for a FET and also requested a 4D guided transfer. My FET worked. Join your centre support group if they have one on fb and you will learn a lot too. Reading up on things helps. My clinic were open to my suggestions I just wish they had suggested them! X

Thank you for replying xx

There is a good argument for staying with them, as they have learnt about my body’s response from this cycle. My concern is that they don’t do any investigations except the most basic. As I’m 40 with long standing secondary infertility, I think they should be doing more to investigate. My pregnancy when young was very complicated and my child was born 11 weeks early and weighing just over 1lb. Followed by 2 miscarriages. I tried to explain that I don’t think the standard approach would work, seems it was true.
I am currently looking into going to Greece for treatment. Quite excited, just from the first call, they really listened and responded to every question in detail. Good luck to all you lovely ladies xx
