I am going for a laparascopy and hysteroscopy as I have endometriosis and fluid in my tube. They are planning to remove my tube.

My hospital didnot give much information about the procedure. Getting kind of nervous now. If you have done similar procedure, how long did the recovery take for you ?

Any tips regarding the procedure and for recovery please ?
I may have to stay overnight in the hospital alone, will that be manageable ?

Kind of lost 😮

Hi @christmascake23 I had laraposcopy 2 months ago and quite honestly I felt better within a week. Definitely manageable to stay in hospital alone overnight although I was home within a few hours of the procedure. Might depend on how much endometriosis they are removing but overall I found it fine. Good luck

@Bathtimesoap Thanks for replying :) Did you have any pain in the first week ? Or was it manageable ?

@christmascake23 I had some pain but it was manageable, kept on top of it with paracetamol and ibuprofen. The hospital prescribed me something stronger to take home but I didn't need to take it

I think it also depends on the severity of your case. I was stage 4 endo, frozen pelvis etc. My recovery was about 4 weeks off work, but even up until about 6 weeks I was more tired. Luckily I didn't get gas pain, but was uncomfortably bloated, didn't eat much, constipated for about 3 weeks. Uncomfortable, but not terrible, I kept on top of the meds though.

I had one last September! Was absolutely fine. I had 2 weeks off work, first week I definitely needed as quite sore, but second week I probably could have gone back to work (but didn’t). Was up and moving about straight after, I’m sure you will find your hospital stay manageable. Felt very crampy when I first woke up but had some morphine and that helped a lot. Then it was the shoulder pain from the gas that bothered me most. Then just feeling generally sore from the incisions. The one thing I didn’t know was that it’s not good to lie flat after. So the first night at home I was in pain in bed and didn’t sleep a wink. Then I realised you’re supposed to prop yourself up a bit and not lay flat - the hospital bed will probably make that a lot easier. They gave me 30mg codeine when I went home which I did take for a few days and it helped, then just ibuprofen/paracetamol. Just don’t overdo it for a couple of weeks, give your body time to heal!

I was very nervous before the surgery and had a long wait before going in, but the anaesthetist and surgeon did a good job at reassuring me. And when in the theatre getting put under GA the staff were so so lovely and made me feel 10000x better/calmer. Been under GA again since and now love it haha, I feel so warm and cosy coming around from it.
