London fertility recommendations - when to seek help with PCOS and 35

Hi all,
I’m 34 soon to be 35. I have PCOS but have regular cycles around 28 - 32 days. We are early on TTC and on cycle 5. I’ve had some bleeding between periods and saw a private Gynae. My ultrasound showed a cervical polyp which I will likely need to have removed. Will probably go private due to NHS wait. Don’t know if that is impacting things.

I’m thinking of going to a private fertility clinic as I’m abit concerned about how long to TTC for given known PCOS and my age. My AMH is high around 65 pmol/l so I don’t know if that indicates I might not ovulate regularly even if I have regular periods??

I’m just looking for some support and wondering:

  • how long should we try for before going to see fertility clinic? I was going to give it 6-months as I will soon be 35 and have PCOS
  • Any clinic recommendation in London? - I’ve had a look and think Evewell, Create fertility and Concept fertility seem to have good reviews. But would be grateful for any recommendations. I don’t know whether they would do ovulation induction first or go straight to IVF given the PCOS and high AMH ...

I’m trying to keep positive as even if I do need ovulation induction or IVF - women with PCOS usually respond quite well to that from what I’ve read. I’m just worried as I don’t know when to see a fertility specialist. My Gynae consultant who found the polyp says because I’m getting regular periods I should give it 1-year but this feels very long to me given my PCOS and age.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Englishrose35 .

My doctor said that you only need to wait 1 cycle after the polyp removal and then you can immediately start the IVF process. Sometimes polyps grow back and fertility clinics don't start a treatment until it's been removed. So if you are going the private way, I would find a clinic first, have a consult with them, have the polyp removed, and then you can start your treatment. To avoid possibly having them removed twice...
Most providers do suggest trying for a year before treatment.

I go to King's Fertility and I think they are generally great. They have a great location adjacent to the main hospital and many providers work in both locations. So you can even have your polyp removed by the same doctor and in a building that is very close by.

Thank you, that is helpful

What I am wondering is whether they will still ask me to continue TTC even after removing the polyp? - Seems like treatment or IVF could start soon after it is removed but I wonder if I would be asked to try for another X months after it is removed in case that was causing the problem. My Gynae said they don't know if polyps affect fertility.

Thanks. I will look into Kings fertility - are you there for IVF or for ovulation induction? And is it quite reasonably priced if paying privately?

All clinics have prices posted online. I think mine is reasonably priced. And yes, IVF🙃
