Thick lining

Hi,
was hoping to find someone with thick lining in IVF.
had 3 transfers previously all BFN. On our last transfer after changing clinics dr said that my lining is getting too thick too quick even tho all bloods and even scans look absolutely perfect.
im a few days away of ET after dr suggesting a medication that reduces the thickening of the lining. We looking for a 1mm thinner lining this time but I’m not feeling quite positive.
would love to hear any stories related:)

Hi there. My lining was always thick - we did 3 egg collections and 1 FET so it was measured several times. Fortunately, my FET worked and I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant. My consultant did everything she could to ensure it worked first time - I had a "scrape" (painful but basically breaks down the lining of your womb early in the cycle so it can grow back "fresh"), prostap injection and intralipids. She was never too worried about the thickness of my lining generally - she said that some people just do have a thicker lining. Although I think it is more unusual than a thin lining. It hasn't caused any issues in my pregnancy so far and fingers crossed it won't.

Wishing you all the best for your upcoming transfer.

Hi, thanks for sharing and congrats on your BFP:)
we also tried scrape last time around wishing for the best.
may I ask you which clinic you with? Also what was your cause of infertility?
also, with 3 EC did you just do embryo banking or was any reason for not going for ET?

thanks:)

I have a low-ish AMH but no other real reason for infertility - we are both in our mid to late 30s so didn't want to hang about, hence the IVF. I should also say I had a hysteroscopy before transfer too. All fine.

We did 3 rounds of egg collections because we were doing PGT-A testing and ideally wanted to "bank" some embryos now to give us a good chance of having 1+ children (I would probably be almost 40 if it worked and we wanted a second child down the tracks, and my egg quality would have deceased if we did an egg collection then).

We ended up with 3 frozen genetically "normal" embryos before trying a transfer.

Oh that’s seems like a great plan to follow. PGTa wise( I also wanted to come down that route but dr refused due to age?!?!, anyway) how many embryos were genetically normal out of all? Or just all of them?

thank you for your replies and sorry to bombard you with questions:)

No worries. I remember looking for other people with a thick lining when I was going through the process and not finding many so happy to help.

Our success rate with PGT-A was 50% which was pretty much in line with what is expected at my age. So, from 3 rounds, we had 6 day 5+ embryos, and 3 of those were genetically normal, 3 abnormal.

I think PGT-A is more encouraged the older you are. I'm 37 (36 when we started the process) but know people who are 40+ who have been strongly encourage to do the testing. Expensive but does increase the chance of a successful transfer (and reduce miscarriage risks), according to the doctors I spoke to. I guess the theory is that if you're younger and produce more eggs/embryos then you've got more time to keep trying and you're more likely to produce genetically normal embryos so PGT-A testing isn't a must have.

Thanks for the info. I guess is just reassuring to know that embys are all genetically normal. Unfortunately I did had unsuccessful rounds so when that BFN hits you just keep wondering and questioning everything.
thank you for your help and wish you an easy and happy pregnancy:)
