PCOS with massive drop in AMH

I'm 32 and in June 2022 my AMH was tested and came out at 52. I was also diagnosed with PCOS. Fast forward two IVF attempts resulting in miscarriage and my AMH is now down to 13.6. Has anyone else experienced this or know what could cause it? I'm really concerened

Hey,
Ive also experienced a significant drop.
Im 34 and a year ago my amh was about 12, now it’s about 5. In that time I’ve gone through 4 rounds of IUI. I wonder if the drugs had an influence. The nurse said it was unusual to have such a big drop in such a short space of time.

Not much help but I can empathise. It’s concerning.

My AMH has also dropped massively from 30-something (2 years ago) to 9.3. This is since having 2 rounds of IVF. My periods have changed too. I'm not 35 yet :(

When I told the nurse they didn't bat an eyelid about it. I really don't know whether to be worried or not.

@Blossomofhope and @nutellacrepe I'm sorry you are going through this too.

I'm very worried as since that massive drop I've done another round of IVF. Results for this round were awful compared to last. First round 6 embryos for 11 eggs. This round only 7 eggs and only 3 fertilised - they want to do a day 3 transfer as they don't think any will make it till day 5.

I'm devestated and not sure what could have happened in 16 months to rdeuce AMH that drmatically and in 10 months to get such a bad IVF outcome

@TTCaftermultipleloss I know it’s so disheartening! People seem to think amh doesn’t mean much but I know it’s hard to believe. I can’t wait til we don’t have this big stress anymore.

I'm due to start my first icsi cycle next week and to be honest I'm not happy that they are using amh blood test that was done almost one year ago . I'm being placed on the lowest dose for only 5 days so I'm worried I'm not even going to be stimulated. I did find this tho that I will share

@MoonlightDreamer Interesting for those with PCOS for sure.
As for dosage, they should monitor you and increase the dose if needed based on how you’re responding. They happened with me during this cycle. Or maybe you could request another blood test?

MoonlightDreamer · 03/10/2023 19:34

@Blossomofhope my first cycle is funded my nhs. I asked for a repeat AMH as since I'd done the blood test I started metformin for my pcos which is also known to decrease amh and I've done several rounds of clomid too which may not be as powerful as ivf strong but its still ovarian stimulation

MoonlightDreamer · 03/10/2023 19:34

@Blossomofhope I'd meant to say they won't budge on letting me take another amh test

Blossomofhope · 03/10/2023 19:53

@MoonlightDreamer Ah I was reading about metformin earlier and how it impacts AMH. That’s so sickening. Well I think they use your AMH to give a sense of how many eggs they’d expect to collect so maybe it’s not the end of the world if they’re working off your potentially higher past amh.
Im not sure I’m any better off for knowing mine dropped - just another thing to stress about really! 😕
