Hi there, I know there are a lot of posts on IVF abroad but some are quite out of date so I hope I could get some fresh advice?

40 yr old with low ovarian reserve, multiple IVF cycles in the UK, one resulted in a chemical pregnancy.

This is our last ditch attempt. I’m possibly considering just natural IVF rather than any meds at all. I’ve also ended up ovulating early and they missed the egg so keen to be well monitored at the end of the cycle.

Can I ask about:

  • Serum, Greece. Seems to be marmite but previous threads suggest it’s gone downhill in the last few years. Any recent experiences and is it as expensive as the UK?
  • New Life, Greece. Everyone seems to love it, but they have quite a delay at the moment and not sure about level of monitoring.
  • Genesis, Greece. Another thread recommended a doctor there who was doing natural IVF on a 42 yr old successfully.

thanks so so much, really need your help!

Hi Gemma, I can't offer any insight on the clinics you've mentioned but wanted to share that I've decided on Instituto Bernabeu in Alicante. I've only done one round so far in the UK but am 40 so didn't want to waste any time and didn't fancy repeating multiple cycles doing the same thing. My AMH isn't awful, around 8 I think so ok for my age but obviously time is not on my side.

IB recommended something completely different for me; double egg collection with the second taking place around 10 days after the first. In order to try and make more embryos more quickly then PGT-A test, freeze all, hopefully transferring at a later date. They've suggested the Elonva protocol which is one injection a week during stims instead of daily. It's supposed to work well for women over 40. I'm yet to start but I have found them good so far.

Good luck with your decision x

@April623 hi 👋🏼 when are you due to start with your clinic?

im turning 40 in feb and had 2 failed UK cycles so exploring options at the moment. It like the idea of duostim to get the eggs out.

Hiya @XLouIsStillTrying 👋🏼 Same, I like the idea of getting (hopefully) more eggs more quickly to see what the result is. I'm told that mild stimulation is also likely to be better for me and that the second egg collection can often produce better quality.

I'm starting my cycle first week of January. I've had a delay as I was due to go in August but a large cyst formed on one of my ovaries and the clinic said it would be better to wait until it's gone. Then they gave me a date for November which clashed with an operation my dad was having so we decided to wait until after Christmas when things will be quieter for us. So it's not usually such a long wait.

Happy to answer any questions you have if I can! x

@April623 thanks so much!

I hope your dad is ok and on the mend!

I have had 2 IVFs on the NHS, first 6 eggs (I’ve low AMH) but nothing to transfer as we didn’t realise male fertility support was needed.

second was 5 but this was a much much milder stim and we got 5 eggs and 1 early blast but it failed.

Ots such an interesting thread as clearly im getting eggs but who knows the quality hey!

Good luck for Jan! Sending all the love!

@XLouIsStillTrying Thank you so much. The clinic I'm with does ICSI as standard which may be helpful for your male factor x
