Short Protocol Medication Costs

Hi,

My partner and I have just signed our consents to get the cycle started and have been quoted just shy of £2k for meds alone by Care. I approached Asda for a quote but was told that they will only cost if we present with a prescription. A private prescription from Care costs £60.

I just wondered if anybody could help me out with a rough idea of recent costs elsewhere please?

On my list is:

Cyclogest PROGESTERONE 400mg pessaries (pack 15) £25.57 x4 = £102.28

Fyremadel 0.25mg/0.5ml injection(s) £18.36 x7 = £128.52

GonalF 300IU Pen(s) £114.00 x2 = £228.00

GonalF 900IU Pen(s) £342.00 x1 = £342.00

Gonasi 5000iu Injection £36.00 x2 = £72,00

Meriofert 1 50IU Amp(s) £60.O0 x17 = £1,020.00

Norethisterone 5mg Tablet(s) £0.43 x40 = £17.20

Thank you 😊

I got Cyclogest a couple of weeks ago from Asda for £12.95 for a box of 15.

I think Fyremadel was around £25 when I had that - so more expensive than your quote. I'm afraid I've not had the others.

I did find the Fertility Medication Centre good for stims but Asda was £200 cheaper than them for FET medication x

I saved approx £300 going with Asda and factoring in the £60 prescription charge. I am also with Care and was on 375 Gonal F and Fyremadel. I don’t have the breakdown anymore to the individual item costs. I waited about 5 days for all the meds to be available after ordering. This was in April this year.

Can you get the prescription then pay for the monthly prescription pass for £30 https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/prescriptions-and-pharmacies/save-money-with-a-prescription-prepayment-certificate-ppc/

I had my treatment with nhs but they advised me to get that prescription certificate online for my meds as it would have a cost loads otherwise. Could you do that even though your treatment is private?

Thank you ladies!

@JadeAC that's a great idea but sadly, the PPC only covers NHS prescriptions and I'll be getting a private prescription.
