Amh dropping

Hi everyone, just looking for a bit of advice really. I’m 29 years old, not actively trying to conceive but thought I’d get some fertility blood tests done privately in England just to see how much time I may or may not have left as I would love children someday.

AMH 3 months ago was 6.9 pmol and now is 6.5

FSH is 7.6

when I research these numbers it doesn’t sound great and seems to indicate diminished ovarian reserve and like I may go into menopause early. Does anyone have any insight into how much I need to panic about this? Do I need to freeze eggs etc ?

thank you in advance

Hello!

Just wanted to share my experience as I’m in a similar boat to you!

I’m 28 and have a AMH of 7.6.

I was told that is low for my age. However, AMH is a poor indicator of fertility as if only tells you about the ‘pool of eggs’ as opposed to the quality.

At your age your egg quality should be amazing.

Theres no way of knowing how quickly your AMH may decline, as you may have always had a less amount of eggs, or it could be diminishing quickly.

My consultant suggested waiting no longer than 6 months before proceeding with any active treatment.

If you’re not ready to have children now, I would definitely look to freeze your eggs. That way the pressure is off and you always have that option in the future.

Don’t panic!

I first had my AMH tested when I was 30 and it was 6. That’s low, but not catastrophically low. Now I’m 36 and it’s still 6. So it might not plummet, but I would think about maybe doing fertility treatment now so you have the eggs/embryos in stock as it were.

@Ellierose666

Thank you for sharing and sorry that you’re in a similar boat. It’s stressful I know. That’s interesting to know that your consultant said not to wait longer than 6 months. That’s the impression I’m getting too from online research. I would personally rather start trying now rather than freeze eggs but my partner has a different opinion so I don’t really know what we will end up doing!

@girljulian thank you, I think biggest fear is that it continues to drop so its reassuring to know it didn’t for you
