Intra vaginal scans - how do they happen at your clinic?

Hi!
im on my third round of IVF and have changed clinic for this round.
I wanted to know what was ‘normal’ for a scan? Do you normally get to see what they are probing for? And do they talk you through what their measuring?
that was what used to happen at my old clinic but at the new clinic the nurse barely talks to you and they don’t show you what’s going on.
trying to work out if I was spoilt before or if this new clinic is normal and if I should say something? It feels so transactional rather than including me in the process….

This sounds a bit odd. I've always been able to see the screen and they've given a brief outline of what they're doing as they go along, with more detailed discussion after.

Not everyone has talked me through what they are doing as they're doing it, explaining it on the screen (e.g. when counting follicles at the beginning of my treatment - didn’t see any of that). You could ask to see, and ask what they're looking for. It's your body, your money. Or if you don't feel able in the moment, give some feedback to the clinic about communication during appointments.

They tell you what they're doing just before though, right? They should be making sure you understand what they're doing in there.

I was always able to see, but wasn't always given a step by step, particularly in the lining/egg spotting scans.

During the transfer the doctor actually did explain every single thing, even moving things to tell me what was what "that little white dot? It's the catheter. See me moving it?"

In the viability scans I wasn't exactly told what I was seeing either. Just that there was a heartbeat (which we also heard) and how the embryo was measuring.
But I had to figure out which was the yolk sac, which was the embryo on my own! 😂

Yep - my clinic are pretty basic I think, but I can see on a screen everything that's happening, and they tend to narrate what they're looking at for another person making notes on the computer. I feel comfortable enough to ask questions as we go and they're always happy to show me in more detail what's going on.

Mine are always happy to talk through it although sometimes they don't offer so you'd need to ask - there's a bit of variation with the different technicians.

To be honest I don't like them talking through it because it's got to the stage after years of treatment where I've seen it all before and just want them to hurry up in there! 😂
