LOW AMH

Hey,

Hoping for someone's advice if possible. I am 28 never been pregnant and never been on any contraception.

I recently decided to take an AMH test as me and my partner are going to start TTC this time next year. However when I got my results back it shown my AMH was low at 15.6pmol. I know this test doesn't indicate whether I will be successful getting pregnant or not however I am now wondering whether I should start trying now and not wait till next year?

I know the test just indicates I have low reserve but what I am thinking is do I need to really stop wasting time and try now?

Thank you x

Hi @Louloubaker, I think only you can decide if its right for you to try to conceive and to have a baby.
But I will give you my experience. At 32 my amh was 14, at 33 it was 7 and it remains at 7 at 34. It took me nearly two years to concieve my first pregnancy, then a second pregnancy within 6 months. Both ended in miscarriage sadly. we also have MFI. Im now doing IVF after three yearstryingg. And I got 9 mature eggs from 13 follicles. Those numbers correlate correctly with my AMH I believe. So it may take a lot of time and effort to get there with potentially a change in AMH. Hopefully that's not the case for you and whenever you decide to try it works out xxx

Hey @Halsi yes you’re absolutely right about that! It’s a big decision but now I’m cautious it could be a longer/harder journey I think It’s becoming a decision that needs to be made sooner rather than later.

Thank you for sharing your story and so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. It’s good to hear other people’s stories because it was only until last month I discovered these tests etc.

Wishing you all the best for the future and sending lots of baby dust xxx

Start trying whenever feels best for you! AMH doesn’t necessarily tell you how easily or not you’ll get pregnant, won’t know that till you start trying.

I am 27 and have an AMH of 10… I actually started trying when I was 24, ended up needing IVF because of endometriosis/blocked tubes. Although relatively low my ivf clinic were not really concerned about my AMH, suggested it was because of damage caused by the endometriosis and didn’t really see it as an issue. Responded reasonably well to IVF considering, collected 6 eggs, got 4 top quality embryos and I’m currently pregnant. AMH doesn’t tell you anything about egg quality!

I will say that knowing what I know now about my infertility, I am glad we started trying when we did! It can be a difficult road xx

That’s really not that low! Mine was 6 when I was 32 and now I’m 36 it’s still 6.
