Fresh vs frozen..

Hi all, I'm due to start my 3rd cycle (in Oct). The last one only achieved 1 embryo, frozen on day-3. The doctor advised that we see what the next cycle brings us before we decide whether to do a fresh or frozen transfer (depending if there is enough to go for testing, if we want PGTA done). I've also been given the option to do a fresh cycle after the next egg retrieval, but that will mean I will have to start on the progesterone + clexane sooner.

Anyone has experience on fresh and frozen transfer? There is a lot of debate amongst the experts according to Google. I myself have had both: the first was a fresh transfer, implanted but lost it in week 5. The second was a frozen euploid, did not implant.

Is it worth going through another fresh transfer if it's not known whether it's going to be viable? Is testing worth it? I am 41.

Experiences and thoughts please.

I had a fresh loss at 6+ weeks then the frozen didn't take either. Both day 5 top quality so I say just go for the fresh because clearly quality doesn't always matter (we've also both tested our genetics so there's nothing obvious that would make it abnormal other than usual basics) and if there is something it can correct itself. I remember flowing someone on Instagram and her day 2 embryo which was the worst quality one they tested and not euploid well it was the only one to have worked (she had about 6 or 8 transfers before) and now she has a beautiful healthy baby boy. I know it sounds like those 'I know someone who...' stories but I personally think it's your decision but if it was mine I would try it without the testing. If it works then brilliant but if it doesn't then you may have lost that embryo anyway due to it testing abnormal and you'd still have to wait for another round or other options whatever you choose to go for.

Ive had a fresh loss at 8 weeks and currently 11 weeks pregnant from a frozen cycle. I’ve just turned 40 and none of our embryos (total of 5 from 2 transfers) have been tested.

We have no known issues so unexplained, I had no reason to believe there would be an issue so decided against testing, however, if a third collection was required I think I probably would have gone down the testing road.

Good luck

Sorry 7 embryos out of 2 transfers lol, I’m losing count here lol. We had 2 from the first collection and 5 from the second. Currently used 5, 2 still freezing.

Thanks @Reddy01 I am leaning towards no testing and hope for the best after the euploid failure.. it’s a lot of money to throw away for nothing! I’m just fearful of another miscarriage but guess that’s part of the journey.

@MsPeony thank you, lets hope its a sticker :)

I've never tested embryos so have no experience of this but I have read on some threads people researching it and it shows that some embryos can rectify any faults in the womb so who knows. Good luck :)
