Poor response to stims

I had my day 9 scan today and only had three follicles worth measuring at 13, 14 and 15mm. I feel really deflated. Has anybody had this scenario that could offer advice - can it be improved for next time?

@Purtyburty Im sure you hear this often but it’s definitely quality over quantity.

My first round I had 14 follicles with only 2 making it too blastocyst, second round had 8 follicles with 5 making it to blastocyst.

The second round turned out more successful that the first even with less follicles. In my case the smaller the follicle count the better the quality seemed. I’m sure that will be the case with you.

3 is a great number and the measurements are perfect as all on par with each other.

Don’t be disheartened all it takes is 1 🙂

Good luck x

I had a poor response first round, my dose was too low and I wasn't sure why they gave me the drug they did considering my age.
My second round I changed drug and upped the drugs and I had a much better round (10 eggs) also did some holistic things like accupuncture and upped my coq10 and vitamin c.
It does only take one and it depends what they've said they would expect as a result from you as well. They told me to expect around 10 first go so I knew I hadn't responded well except I didn't know this until egg collection as I didn't really understand it all then.
I was really on them with second cycle making sure I had more monitoring scans earlier to have chance to up the dose (which I did in addition to it already being increased from the start).
Good luck I know someone who got pregnant from 3 :) x

Hi PurtyBurty sorry to hear about this round. I'm subscribed Rebecca Fett (It All Starts With The Egg)'s newsletter and I thought this might be of interest, if it's not something you have already looked at.

Why would you consider taking myo-inositol without PCOS?
While the value of myo-inositol outside PCOS is still uncertain, it may be helpful if you have insulin resistance or a high fasting insulin level, which can cause a lower percentage of mature eggs in IVF and a low fertilization rate, as well as recurrent miscarriage. If you have faced these issues, it may be worth testing your fasting insulin level and talking to your doctor about supplementing with myo-inositol.
^^
Myo-inositol also appears to help ovarian follicles respond to FSH. New studies indicate that in women with a very high FSH level and poor follicle growth in IVF, supplementing with myo-inositol may help ovarian cells respond better to FSH, resulting in eggs that are more likely to fertilize. (Unless the low fertilization rate is caused by poor sperm quality - a common culprit).
The bottom line is that if you have low testosterone and low DHEA but also have insulin resistance or a low fertilization rate in IVF, it is possible that taking both myo-inositol and DHEA could be helpful. Based on the research to date, it appears unlikely that doing so will lower testosterone, but it's a good idea to monitor your levels to make sure.
