Hey all a deep question; would anyone skip letrozole/clomid and go straight to IVF? It will be privately funded

The basics ; TTC nearing 2 years secondary infertility
pcos - all relevant tests came back as I do ovulate alone, tubes clear and male factor all fine

so if I ovulate - will they even offer it to me?!
I’m booked next week to see private fertility consultant so I guess I’ll know then.
I was half hoping I would be offered letrozole as it seems a darn sight easier than IVF 😔

feeling flustered and sad now

Hello!

sorry you have been on this tough journey for two years now. Not totally comparable, but I have low progesterone and only recently been told I also have PCO, and I also ovulate naturally and was offered letrozole. I tried six rounds of letrozole and HCG trigger shot (to make sure the egg was ripe and released at the right time), then progesterone support in the Luteal phase. This was helpful for me as it gave more support than my natural cycle (with low progesterone) and I did have a chemical pregnancy one cycle, but ultimately didn’t end up pregnant. So it may be worth considering?

However, if you’re over 35 and worried about how many years left of healthy eggs you have, it may be worth going ahead with ivf so that you don’t “waste” time.

It’s such a personal decision, I’m also privately funding so get that there’s always that financial weigh up too … ivf is so darn expensive x

Thanks for taking the time to reply @Carlotta27
i am 30 yrs old 31 in October.. makes me furious I tried since 28 and still here 😅

its helpful to know they offered it alongside to support your natural cycle, I keep thinking I’d go for 3 rounds then I’d get my answer but I just don’t know, will see what she suggests as an option,
I know I likely wouldn’t do IUI either - so better prepare for some £££

hope you get your dream soon too 🤞🏻✨

Good luck to you too! Yes I was also advised against IUI - as three cycles of that could cost similar to IVF which has much better odds… looks like I will be heading to IVF soon. I’m hopefully that with polycystic ovaries there should be a good number of eggs to collect. I hope you get some answers soon too and can make some progress! It does feel unfair that we’re waiting and waiting and other people seem to get pregnant easily. Best of luck! X
