Low AMH High AFC

Hi! I’m 38 and just about to start IVF following 4 failed IUI attempts. I’m in a same sex relationship, so trying naturally isn’t an option. I’m just looking to find out if anyone is in the same situation - with a low AMH (in my case, 3.1 pmol/L), but high AFC (34). I believe AMH is a stronger measurement of ovarian reserve, but I’ve really struggled to find any examples where AFC is so high. Anyway we’ve been suggested to do the Flare protocol. Would be great to hear from anyone who has experienced similar. Thank you 😊

Hi!

we had the same issue…and these were NHS tests

we went to private fertility clinic today.. and they said it’s not normal for these tests to not align to one another.

we were retested today and the AFC scan was wrong compared to the nhs tests.

I would ask for retests. X

Thanks for the reply @ellierose66 Glad you got retested. It’s definitely weird and not something I can find much info on.

I’ve just been through the first cycle of IVF using Flare protocol, so thought I would share results in case it helps anyone in a similar position of low AMH and normal/high AFC. After 8 days of Ovaleap and Ovidrel trigger, they managed to collect 19 mature eggs, 14 fertilised and 10 got to 5-day blasts. I had a touch of OHSS (not expected with low AMH), but in the end I transferred one which failed to implant. A bit deflated as everything else went so well, but we were so lucky to have 9 frozen. So hoping to start FET soon.

Anyway, just wanted to share and hopefully provide reassurance for anyone else with varying AMH/AFC as doesn’t seem to be common. ☺️
