Should I transfer a frozen blastocyst with Low mosaic of trisomy 17

Hello,

We have a frozen blastocyst with Low mosaic of trisomy 17 and not sure whether it is a good idea to perform a frozen embryo transfer. We have consulted our IVF clinic but did not get a clear answer. Has anyone had experience with transferring low mosaic embryos?

Thanks :)

Hi Alon, our clinic in London no longer reports on mosaic embryos as the success rate is very similar to Euploid. There was a recent study through a testing centre called Juno Genetics. I’d not worry about the mosaic. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. That´s absolutely great to hear!
We understand that the implementation rate might be lower for low mosaic embryos and we accept that. Our main concern is more about physical / mental disabilities, as we understood that there is a much higher chances for that with (even a low) mosaic, is it really true?

Thanks again!

I believe, from what I read in the research published by Juno genetics is that there is a very very small chance (possibly a few percent) that the chromosomal issue would actually present itself in the development of the baby. Our consultant said the results in terms of pregnancy rate are comparable to euploid embryos, so there is almost just as good a chance it will implant. Some other clinics in London are no longer reporting on low level mosaicism as it’s not a significant finding apparently

Thanks a lot for your input Mrs, much, much appreciated! As I mentioned, our main concern is about possible physical / cognitive development issues with the baby, but to our understanding, it is possible to detect those during the 15th week check up. We are really conflicted here :/

Hi @Alon789 . What did you decide to do? Did you transfer the mosaic embryo? I am in a similar situation....
