Hi. I've just had an appointment with fertility consultant after bloods, and TVultrasound. Husbands SA came back normal, and most of mine were absolutely fine, but my AMH was 2.4 and my FSH was 13.5. I am overweight with a BMI of 37, and i am 38. He has basically said i'm too fat to get pregnant, and with the amh being far too low, and my FSH far too high, that my only option is to lose 7 stone and have ivf with donor eggs.

Now i'm not stupid, and i know my age and weight will not be helping, but i was heartbroken coming off that call. I've googled and from what i have read 2.4 AMH is relatively normal for my age, and there is still a chance we could conceive naturally, and we're not the complete weite offs that he has just made out.

I suppose i'm just looking for a little bit of reassurance, or advice from anyone who has conceived with levels like these, or have taken any supplements to lower fsh. I have been pregnant once before, last feb, but that ended in an early loss.

I'm sorry, it's so hard hearing news like that. I hope the doctor gave it to you compassionately.

Honestly, I would agree that your AMH is low. I'm 39 and my AMH is 3.6 - also low. I've been trying to conceive for 3 years with no luck and am on my second round of IVF. Our AMH levels and ages indicate that ovarian reserve is low and egg quality is likely to be waning.

This doesn't mean you'll never get pregnant. I did actually get pregnant on our first round, but miscarried - the embryo wasn't developing as it should, probably related to egg quality.

There are things you can do to help your body along, such as eating a Mediterranean diet, not drinking alcohol or caffeine, and taking a good quality conception supplement and CoQ10.

Until you go through menopause, there is always a chance that you can conceive naturally. I've come to accept that the likelihood of that happening for me is extremely small!

Best of luck.

Oh and PS - I also ovulate every month and my periods are like clockwork. Sadly I think my eggs are just a bit old and rubbish now!
