Good ivf clinics in london

Hi , can anyone suggest me a good ivf clinic in london. We are trying for a second child. So not eligible for NHS funding. We have been trying for more than 3 years with no success :(
35F, DH 39M I have endometriosis

I looked at CRGH, the success rate is good. But the price is very high. If the IVF takes 3 cycles it could come around 30 - 40k which is very expensive. I think that 30k-40k is super expensive. Is CRGH via 'access fertility' program a good choice ( with 50% money back after 2 cycles)

The other option I am looking at is Lister via 'Access fertility' program or CREATE fertility. Any other suggestions are welcome, please. I looked into the hfea website, but was overwhelmed with what to choose.

None of my friends had IVF. So no idea which clinic to go for. Any suggestions would be really helpful for us.

I would recommend contacting kings fertility. We've had a great experience with them twice now and costs are very favourable compared to other London clinics. They're very transparent about everything, no hidden costs, and all the staff are lovely.

We went with the Lister clinic via access, we bought the two cycle package and I honestly couldn’t fault the lister team - our little girl was born in Jan and I put that down to the embryologists, who are incredible! I know of four couples who have had success there. I would definitely buy a package though, pay as you go could be massively expensive. Also, think if it suitable for you to get there with work etc as the Lister like to see you every other day once you are in a cycle before your egg collection (if you need to drive to the clinic there is a great car park just over the bridge that I always used under the flats).
Wishing you all the best.

We are with kings fertility (on nhs) but I would really recommend. Our care has been excellent and everyone is so friendly!

Thanks very much for the suggestions !

Thanks for your recommendation for Lister. I am working full-time. Are the frequent visits only till egg collection ? Any idea how many leaves we may need to take for a cycle ? I recently started a new job 😟

May I know which package you went for please - is it 2 Cycle 50% Refund ?
May I know how much it did cost for 2 cycle package please along with the medicines (and everything else) ?

You will have quite a few appts, roughly:

Initial appt for bloods/scan etc
Baseline scan
Scan on day 6-8 stims
Probably another 2 scans after that (might get away with 1, might be more than 2)
Day off for egg collection, you might need the following day off too
Day off for transfer
Day off for viability scan around 7 weeks if you get to that point

It is a nightmare, I won't lie. If you can I would be honest with your employer - it is far easier and they hopefully would be understanding. Mine has been very supportive but appreciate being in a new role it might be more difficult for you.

Nice, may I know how much did it cost including the medicines pls? Are they accommodating to schedule the appointment around work time. Any idea how many days you had to go to the hospital. I recently joined a job and getting worried about taking off randomly for many days 😦

Apologies I didn't tag the right person.

@SErunner Thanks very much for the detailed post 🙂Not a great time to switch jobs. I was waiting in my old job for more than 3 years to be pregnant and switched my job finally. Was kings fertility ok to work around the office timings ? I could see that the timing is 8:30 to 5pm only. Not sure how I am going to manage without telling the office 😓

I honestly would tell your workplace if you can. Even if you live right near the clinic and they open early or close late you're going to struggle to get all appts at your convenience, and I would have thought it's better to honest with work than look flaky? Depends on your environment/boss etc though I guess. Kings are open routine opening hours, no early/late appts I don't think.

I told my work and flexed my hours round my appointments, and took a week of annual leave at the end of stims to cover egg collection and transfer.

It is what it is and you are where you are, so go with what is best for you. I just personally would have found not telling work a lot more stressful I think.

janett2 · 02/06/2023 22:28

@SErunner thanks for replying :)
I changed job just a month back 🙁we thought ww will try naturally for more time. But my husband is more inclined towards ivf now.

Yeah definitely it will be lot easier if i tell them about ivf, but in my case dont know if it backfires.

Hi everyone I am new here and in that phase where I am deciding between IVF clinics n London too and.. can't decide!

I have narrowed down to 3 package cycles at Kings or Create. I think I would like to mix up the cycles if it's possible. Has anyone done this.. ie 1 cycle conventional IVF then 2 cycles Natural Modified IVF (Kings), or 1 cycle Mild IVF then 2 cycles Natural Modified IVF (Create).

Does anyone know how much in total you pay at Kings?

I am 41,5 now and this will be my first time. Husband also has low morphology.

SErunner · 20/07/2023 21:20

@RarePlant I would follow the medical guidance you're given re type of cycle surely, rather than mix and match off your own back?

Kings have a transparent price list on their website which details all costs other than meds which will vary hugely depending on your needs. We've done several cycles with them and have never had any add ons to the initial price midway through. Roughly £5500 for a collection and transfer including a large medications bill. Extra £700 to freeze and store leftover embryos.

ListerMummy · 25/07/2023 20:46

I’ve been very happy with Lister.

janett2 · 28/07/2023 00:00

@RarePlant Welcome aboard ! I am in a similar confusion as well ? Did you decide what to go for ?

I was thinking of CRGH earlier. Due to the price, I am more leaning towards kings.

@SErunner Quick question please.

For a 3 cycle plan, the costs are
cycle cost - £9,500
Medication cost around 3 * 2000( i hope)

Total - 15,500
Will there be any other costs ? Is scan , initial consultation, blood tests and all the diagnosis included in the base package of 9500 ?

OP posts:
SErunner · 28/07/2023 07:03

@janett2 If you find out you need ICSI that would be extra. And if you have embryos to freeze that is extra (£700 including a years storage fee). Otherwise everything is included. They have always been very clear with me when things were going to be an additional cost (freezing in our case). £2000 for meds is the very top end I would think, mine were approx £1600 and I was on very high doses of stims (which are the expensive bit).

The initial consult isn't included in those costs. From recollection that was about £450, including scan bloodworm and semen analysis. Once you've had the initial consult you then make payment for the cycles and can get booked in to start. Their turnaround has always been very quick for me.

@SErunner thats very much helpful 😊
Thank you !

RarePlant · 28/07/2023 10:11

@janett2 I think for the moment I am choosing 1 cycle with Kings and then have a plan B of 3 package cycle with Create so I feel I have a backup and will not be as stressed. I will also feel I will have put my body through a standard IVF protocol and then a natural modified IVF protocol as right now I have zero data of what works with my body.

This is also a sign of “I can’t bloody choose” lol.

janett2 · 30/07/2023 22:00

@RarePlant hope it goes well for you. Best wishes.

I am very confused as well. Every week my choice of hospiral changes 😂

@janett2 @RarePlant how did you both get on? We are choosing a clinic and confused. We have male factor and over 40 too x

Hi

Sorry joining this thread a little late, but I wondered if anyone went for a consultation (with you potential treating consultant) with each clinic on your shortlist or how you ended up making your decision, was it purely looking on the website? I'd like to be sure of my choice and see what each consultant would suggest in terms of treatment plan but also don't want to spend about £250 on a consultation with each clinic. I've narrowed down to 3 and have booked in for an open day for one of them. I am already under a gynae for endometriosis so have had alot of the pre workup done, bloods, TVUS, and partners sperm analysis.

Also did anyone living outside of London chose a London clinic? I'm wondering if the taking a train for each visit becomes stressful during the process.

Thanks!
