Are they able to see a hydrophinx via xray ? I was diagnosed with a hydrophinx via ultrasound apparently i read in google if its seen via ultrasound then it must be badly filled with fluid. I was then booked in for a hsg dye test the next month and xray which apparently my tubes came back open. I saw another consultant at the nhs fertility clinic ivf apointment and he gave me a very brief scan a month later and said no hydrophinx was visible. I will add i did get pregnant after that hsg in January but miscarried 1 week after my tww. Orignal consultant at hospital gynae still wants to me in to remove the affected tube to better my success and today i got rhe letter to confirm surgery date. I'm just confused really what to do.
Is a hydrophinx always visible on a dye test . Wouldn't the xray and dye have picked up on any blockages or unusual outline shape on the xray. ? Surely it would look swollen on xray. months later I'm still not pregnant and I'm just wondering if it's just bad luck or if the dye flushed the hydrophinx and maybe it's come back ? I did start letrozole the minth following my hsg so. Just asking anyone with experience really does it sound like I has a hydrophinx to begin with . I'm very uncomfortable having my tube removed when my dye came back clear

Hello @Jasminexoxo

I just came across your thread and I'm currently in the same situation. I'm going through IVF in a private clinic and I was told after the egg collection that they noticed fluid in my endometrial cavity which is hydrosalpinx. I was confused because I did hycosy few months ago and both tubes were opened. Also, how come the clinic didn't notice this fluid on previous scans before the egg collection.

Now, they want me to freeze my eggs and cancel the embryo transfer for this month. They want to monitor the fluid and probably book me in for laparoscopy to clip the left tube they believe is causing the fluid.

I really do not know what to do or say. I even asked if they can aspirate the fluid but they're saying it still doesn't increase the success rate of the embryo implantation.

Please how did you go about it? Can you please advise me on what to do. Thank you Xx

@Comfort2000 I'm also in a similar position. Was diagnosed with hydrosalpinx via ultrasound with my gynaecologist and booked in for surgery ( 9 months later, still waiting )
I had a HSG dye in November which they said my tubes were normal . I discussed with the doctor who did the hsg about the fluid concerns and when i asked him does this mean there's no fluid, he said 'everything's normal" he kinda dragged out the normal. it was the tone in which he said it and looking back I think what he meant is scan indicates tubes are normal ( open) but that doesn't mean there's no fluid.
I also saw a second gynaecologist to get a second opinion and he couldn't see a hydrosalpinx but it's possible the hsg could have cleated it.
I'm awaiting ivf so havent got as far as starting it yet but in the meantime my original gynaecologist still wants me to have surgery to remove the tube, which i personally am awfully confused at as he also gave us the go ahead to start ovulation induction medication which I'm not sure why if he thinks there's an issue as the fluid can increase the risk of ectopic and implantation failure / miscarriage. I've had one prior loss . I'm due to see that original doctor next week to discuss all this and I'm with the fertility clinic tomorrow so I'm hoping I can get some more advice what to do.
As far as I'm aware from reading online ,sometimes hsg/hycosy can miss a hydrosalpinx and not pick it up. It dosent completely stop implantation or cause miscarriage but the fluid is toxic and can prevent it from sticking which is why thy like it removed as it increases your chances. I believe studies have shown your chances of success with a hydrosalpinx are not impossible but they are half of that as someone without it

@PinkMandalorian I'm so sorry you're going through a similar situation. I can understand how you feel. Sometimes these doctors can be very confusing.
Just when I thought this IVF would solve all the TTC stress, another issue with the fluid came up. It's really frustrating.
I messaged someone with the similar situation on another thread and she said the fluid cleared up on it's own before the embryo transfer but she still got a BFN. So I think the fluid is really something to deal with first. Let's just see how it goes. Best wishes to us all.
