Ttc at 35 with low AMH and follicle count

I’m just posting here in the hope of hearing other ladies experiences of ttc with low AMH. Mine is .89 so extremely low and fertility consultant only found 4 follicles in total on a recent scan. I’m ovulating and have pretty regular cycles.
My partner has had tests done and all came back perfect. As my AMH is so low and we started TTC last August our clinic recommended we go straight to IVF so we are hoping to begin in June. I have a HSG booked next month as we were told that if we just get one egg fertilised which is a possibility that we may be advised to do IUI as chances of success are similar to that of IVF.
Im in Ireland so maybe clinics have different protocol to those in the UK.
I have struggled with coming to terms with needing IVF and I think the fact that my AMH is so low means there is a time factor and each month that passes without a pregnancy is very hard.
I would like to hear the experiences of others in a similar situation, whether you conceived naturally or needed IVF. Any words of wisdom or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi @starbar2020 I am 35 and got diagnosed with low AMH about 2 years ago now. I am currently on the IVF journey and can share my experience with you so far. My AMH back then was 1.5 and AFC of 4.
My first IVF attempt got abandoned on day 9 of drug stimulation because my ovaries weren’t responding. I was devastated but actually in hindsight it was a trial run on those drugs. The next attempt I went through a full cycle, only 2 eggs collected, 1 fertilised and transferred on day 3 but sadly ended in ectopic pregnancy.
I then did a course of Chinese herbs with a lady called Isabel Cherry (I am based in Sussex as is she but I think she does zoom appointments), I also took a supplement called DHEA on the advise of a consultant to help ovarian reserve. I did both of these for 3 months and on my next cycle I then got 6 eggs which resulted in two embryos, 1 to transfer and 1 to freeze. Sadly the one I transferred ended in a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks. I then had further investigations and have now found out I have some immune system issues which are potentially rejecting the pregnancies so for my frozen transfer I am trying immune therapy alongside the transfer.
My consultants have told me the eggs and Sperm are good. My acupuncturist (yes I’ve tried everything!) kept telling me that low reserve did not mean I could not get pregnant and she was the one who encouraged me to get some immune testing.
I know I haven’t got pregnant yet but I hope my story helps you realise you may get some eggs and hopefully at 35 they are good quality still.
I also recommend a great podcast called the egg whisperer.

Hi @starbar2020 💐

It’s a very tough situation to be in psychologically, IVF feels like something that happens to people on TV or you read about their ordeal… you don’t expect it to have to be part of your own story.

I want to tell you a success story that might help give you some hope ♥️

I was 34, AMH of 0.6 with an antral follicle count of just 3. I had also been anovulatory since forever so had more than a few obstacles to climb 😅

I had Menopur 300iu and went for egg collection with 3 follicles on CD10.
3 mature eggs were collected but one fertilised incorrectly.
The remaining 2 eggs were slow and only 5 cells by day 3.
On day 5 we transferred our only two embryos, a 3CC and a 1-.-.

It can happen with just one or two eggs ♥️ You don’t need a stack xxx

Hi FrogsLegs37

Congratulations on your success and thanks for telling your story. It definitely gives me some hope
that i May respond to the drugs better than I think.
Ems123456789 I really hope you get your baby soon. I am on DHEA since the initial appointment with the clinic and also On COQ10 . I suppose it feels like positive progress to be taking any of these supplements as when you know you’re doing everything you can it definitely helps aswell.
at this stage I’m just really looking forward to starting and at least after the first IVF we will have some idea of how I’m responding or if I respond at all. Best wishes to both of you on your respective journeys.

@starbar2020 I've just posted about my situation and came across your post.

I'm 35 with AMH of 4.4 and follicle count of 11. Been TTC for 3 years now with no luck - no pregnancies to date.

My fertility consultant has recommended going straight to IVF based on my results but we're waiting to get my husbands results to have a further consultation.

After my first consultation I was so emotional for days - it really hit me that this might not ever happen and that we're going to have to go through IVF - which still may not be successful.

We will look to start a cycle in July time I imagine - have a collection and then hopefully freeze embryos (if we get any) ready to transfer later in the year (can't do fresh transfer due to some commitments but v keen to start the collection asap as apparently time is not on my side)!

Would be great to follow your journey Smile

Hi ladies any positive stories ? I've just been told my amh is 3 and to go ahead with IVF but like @FrogsLegs37 said I'd never thought I would need to go down this road! I conceived my dd 5 years ago very easy now ttc for 2 years, @starbar2020 I'm also in Ireland and the hse will give you 3 free rounds of iui and 1 round of ivf if you and your partner has no kids :)
