Health insurance for fertility treatment/investigations

Do any private health insurance providers cover fertility treatments or investigations?

We've been trying to conceive for just under a year but we're aware that we may need to go down the infertility route if this goes on for much longer. Neither of us have kids.

I was just wondering if it would be wise to get health insurance, in case we do need to (though we also want it for other general medical problems that might arise in the future).

But then I've heard that many health insurance providers don't cover fertility problems. Is this correct? Has anyone been successful in claiming back investigations and treatments like IVF and ovulation induction?

My understanding is that no, they do not. We’ve mentioned it in passing to a couple of companies when we’ve got quotes over the last few years and they just say they don’t cover that and move on.

Nope. There isn't any insurers in the UK that cover fertility investigations or even anything that could be remotely connected to it. I nearly died from a ruptured ectopic - I asked my insurer if they would cover a scan on the other tube to see if it was blocked so as to avoid another ectopic.....they refused. Had another ectopic in the other tube and it ruptured. Made sure I claimed every penny of insurance and certainly wasn't in a hurry to be discharged from the private hospital I can tell you until I was sure I ran up a nice hefty bill that they had to pay
