BMI change during treatment

I'm about to start my first round of IVF, currently taking norethisterone and then have an appointment next week to have a scan to check that I'm ready to come off the norethisterone and start injections.

This will be my first face-to-face appt at the clinic, everything else has been online (because all my bloods and initial scans were done privately a while back). I lost a lot of weight very quickly to get my BMI from 37 to 29.9, but I've put on a tiny bit of weight and will be ~3lb over the NHS BMI limit of 30. I know that I get weighed and bloods done at this appointment. Are they likely to pause my treatment until I get it back under for the sake of 3lbs or am I worrying over nothing given that I've already received all the prescriptions? If it makes a difference, it's at a private clinic with NHS funding rather than in an actual NHS hospital.

I'm going to eat very little and drink alot between now and then (currently 5lb over the limit so predict I'll be easily -2lbs in a week so approx 3lbs over) but I'm worried about them taking the treatment away! Silly oversight on my part but haven't been weighed since the GP referral and let it slip a little bit!

I don't have any answers, but am facing a similar situation in the next couple of weeks and would be interested in hearing how you get on. Best of luck!

Just came on to say well done for being able to get your BMI down and it sucks that it's a requirement. I hope they dont make an issue out of 3lbs!!
Sorry for the not very helpful post.

Imagine if they turned people away for cancer treatment because of BMI. 😡

I think different clinics have different policies - I hope you get on ok.

My clinic did a BMI check at my last appointment before starting meds, and I was told that I wouldn't be able to start if my BMI was above 30. I think some places are less strict though, and it may make a difference that you're at a private clinic with funding rather than an NHS clinic.

I think clinics are really variable so it's hard to say.

I've been having treatment for 3 years, and I've only ever been weighed once, right at the beginning when I had all the other initial tests etc. My BMI then was 32. I brought my weight down and they just took my word for it, I told them my BMI was now 29 and they changed it on their system. They didn't weigh me.

They didn't even weigh me before egg collection or any other treatments. They'd just recorded my BMI as 29 and that was it.

I had to lose weight for treatment too. Went from BMI 36.4 to 28.5 in 3 months just to start treatment. I had my first IUI today & they have continued to monitor my weight. Being on plan also meant I've communicated with other women who were also using the diet for rapid weight loss for treatment. One woman I spoke to lost weight for treatment but didn't realise that she had to maintain that. At her first appointment she was due to start injections they weighed her and her bmi was back over 30. They suspended treatment and told her to let them know when her bmi was back under 30 again so it does happen although I'm not sure if some may give a little leeway 🤞🏼

They postponed treatment for me due to being a couple of pounds over. Some places may not be as strict though!

Forgot to come back to update here, just to let you know (especially @blueskies94 who wanted an update!), I wasn't weighed again until egg collection and my BMI was a bit more over by then ( it was 31), they didn't even mention it and treatment went ahead. I hope you have the same experience and well done everybody on the weight loss and good luck with treatment :)
