@Nosejug When I did long protocol (from what I can remember) I had a period and phoned the clinic. I then had to go to the clinic on ~ day 21 (something like that, towards the end of the cycle) and get a Prostap injection for down regulation. Your period / withdrawal bleed is then meant to start I think roughly 10 days or so later. Mine didn't come in the time from they had expected, but did eventually come (they had booked me in for a scan to see what was going on, and then bled the day before). We then started stims with that bleed. Hope that helps

2mumlife · 07/05/2024 13:45

@Nosejug I think we did 7-10 days of stims before the first follicule scan appointment, but then appointments came quickly every couple of days until they decided it was time for trigger and egg collection.

itsmschanandlerbong · 07/05/2024 21:12

@Nosejug yeah so my understanding of long protocol at GRI is you will come in for prostrap towards the end of cycle 1, then cycle 2 is where you begin stims. After the shut down it took us until our 4th cycle to get booked in 😫😫 I think waiting that long is fairly unusual though.

Thanks @2mumlife and @itsmschanandlerbong ! Very helpful. Yeah I think that all confirms my scribbled notes. Sadly don't get to do this job because it'd be too bad form to walk off. I so so so hope that I'll get booked in 1st or 2nd time.. 4th is awful!!! I'd be 39 by then, and was put on the waiting list at 36. Sob. I kind of mostly feel guilty about it for some reason, that my partner is getting so downhearted with all the hold ups.

Thanks again for the intel! Flowers

2mumlife · 08/05/2024 17:02

@Nosejug That's a long time to have been waiting. What I would say though is I'd have rather the wait than the price tag we have to pay to go private....!

Anyone have any experience with being on HRT for 12 weeks?

So im preparing for frozen transfer, had a bleed and that’s where I’m at now.

I guess I just didn’t think I’d be on it for so long

2mumlife · 09/05/2024 13:34

@StuffLoriThangs No experience here. Does seem a long time. Did they explain why?

They said to let my lining thicken up, but I’m not sure it will take 12 weeks for that?
Ive probably misunderstood

2mumlife · 09/05/2024 17:17

@StuffLoriThangs Do you have a bleed in that 12 week period? How curious. I'd maybe call back and ask for someone to go through and explain it again if you're unsure

That’s why I can’t work that out. It’s fine. I have another appointment in a few weeks. I’ve probably just misunderstood

2mumlife · 10/05/2024 08:56

@StuffLoriThangs Ive heard of being on hrt for scheduling but not for so long

JulesIVF · 14/05/2024 16:36

Hi all. Hope everyone is doing well ❤️.

Wondering when those that have been given progesterone pessaries stopped taking them? My clinic said to stop at 10 weeks which was on Sunday just there. I know clinics all do different things but usually see others in them til at least 12 weeks. Just making me a wee bit anxious.

we went for a private scan on Saturday and couldn’t believe that little frog looking thing we seen at 7 weeks is now the shape of a wee baby 🥹. Was measuring 4 days ahead at the time. NHS scan in 2 weeks and can’t wait to see he/she again ❤️.

2mumlife · 14/05/2024 16:52

@JulesIVF Ah thats amazing news! So pleased to hear everything is going well. My clinic you stop at 12 weeks, but really the idea is once the placenta is developed enough to take over supporting the pregnancy its safe to stop. I know it can feel an anxious time stopping, but it'll be absolutely fine :) enjoy the freedom of getting off the meds!

Did you manage to speak to someone?

I've done hrt prep for transfer twice (but both times cancelled before transfer due to reasons outwith my control and not to do with me) and it's more like 12 days in my experience. I wasnon estrodoil tabs and then progesterone pessaries after the lining check scan.

IVFlife · 14/05/2024 18:13

So we were meant to be having our FET at the start of June. After our 2 recently cancelled cycles.

Instead this one's now cancelled too as I found a big hard lump in my breast last night. Now waiting for breast clinic for a scan and biopsy. Should be seen within 2ish weeks.

Honestly you can't make this shit up.

It might be cystic type activity due to all the ivf meds recently. With the cancelled cycles it's been on and off the meds crazily.

Anyone had any experience of this?

Hey. No, I’ve appointment at the start of next week, so I’ll speak to someone then.

From what I gather, I’ll be on these til FET. And then stay on them and use progesterone alongside when I am pregnant. I think.

I actually had what I thought was dimpling. Got seen and everything was ok. So fingers crossed for you.

ivf24 · 15/05/2024 06:48

Hey everyone,

@IVFlife so sorry to hear that! Hope you’re ok! What hurdles you’ve had in your way!

@JulesIVF glad everything is good with you!

I’m 9 weeks now. Had another scan on Monday after they saw internal bleeding at 7 week scan. It went well, bleeding was gone and all looking good. Still measuring at 2 days behind from transfer etc but it’s consistent with first scan. Haven’t got a date yet for my 12 week scan. The time between scans feels so long! I’ve currently got a bad cough, sore throat and losing my voice - joys! ❤️

2mumlife · 15/05/2024 07:26

@IVFlife Can’t believe you’ve had another delay. Hopefully everything is absolutely fine 🤞

@StuffLoriThangs Ah from what you’ve said I think you’ve misunderstood what they said - so you won’t be on hrt for 12 weeks BEFORE the FET. If they are just giving you estradiol and progesterone these are just your normal FET meds and these start when you start your FET cycle ie estradiol starts 2-3 days after your
period and you stay on them until you are 12 weeks if you have a successful cycle x

@ivf24 Glad everything is looking good. Yes I’ve found the waiting until 12 weeks seems to take forever. I feel it goes Quite fast after that

StuffLoriThangs · 15/05/2024 14:28

@2mumlife thanks. That was kind of what I was asking but there was obviously crossed wires

2mumlife · 15/05/2024 14:44

@StuffLoriThangs Ah totally my fault, I thought you meant about being on HRT before your cycle rather than before the actual transfer! Hope it all makes sense now!

IVFlife · 16/05/2024 21:59

I've got thr breast clinic on Saturday so not long to go. I'll make sure I have my phone charged before I go!

2mumlife · 17/05/2024 08:08

@IVFlife Good luck and hope you get an all clear soon

IVFlife · 19/05/2024 19:07

So breast clinic went OK had very thorough exam and ultrasound scan. Surgeon thinks it may well be from ivf meds but isn't happy yet to sign me off from him to go and do ivf so I've to go to hospital on Wednesday for a mammogram and biopsy.

I had hoped would have an answer yesterday but need to wait a bit longer.

Definitely not coming off my meds tonight then to start FET prep. Really hopeful that next month is our month!

2mumlife · 20/05/2024 09:50

@IVFlife Sorry you didn't get an answer but great you've got the appointments so quickly. Hopefully get an answer soon and can get going with your FET.
