Hi just want to hear from anyone trying to decide whether to do PGT-A testing or has decided to do it or not to do it. Or someone who found it successful?

@Flowerlover010 thank you 🙏🏻 I'm still very very cautious but at this point there is not really anything I can do but just go with it. It does reassure me to know that we have another normal embryo frozen at least.

Will this be your first ivf round? Wishing you all the best too! X

Flowerlover010 · 03/05/2023 10:10

@browneyedgirl626 yes thats totally understandable i would be the same (ive had 3 miscarriages) but the further along you go the safer it gets. I havent managed to make it past 6 weeks. Keep your mind busy and fingers crossed. At least you know its also not got any abnormal chromosomes and not second-guessing. It is my first ivf round yes.

@Flowerlover010 I think that knowing it's a normal embryo does help a bit for sure.

Good luck for your first round, I was expecting all sorts of horrors but it wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be. It feels a lot more proactive than hoping for the best when you ttc every month 🙃

@browneyedgirl626 yes i think the worst part is all the waiting. Thank you

I decided against it for a few reasons. First, we didn't have a large number of embryos to start with, and these were collected over 6 different cycles. There is a risk of damage through thawing and freezing, on top of the risk of damage from the testing itself. (We had one of our best embryos not survive thawing for a transfer, so it's a real risk.) I also read about some mosaic embryos being accidentally tested as non-euploid, when they might be viable.

We decided the cost plus risk was just too much for us, and we'd be better off paying for FETs and see how it goes. I felt emotionally fine to go through that.

For us, I feel it was the right choice, but if I had gotten more embryos per cycle, I might well have gone for testing.

I personally decided to go with PGT testing after our top quality 5AA embryo ended in MMC at 11weeks last year . D&C showed trisomy 18, so baby would never have survived.
Just did another cycle in March, again got one great grade embryo that was 4AB. Again, came back abnormal.
The grading is basically just a beauty contest. For me, after the heartbreak of a miscarriage it's worth every Penney to pay for testing before transferring.
Obviously doh, pgt is such a personal choice Blush

@hereshoping123 yes ive heard many times now that the best looking one ends up being the abnormal one and the not so good looking ones end up being normal! Sorry u had a mmc at 11 weeks that must of been so hard. Ive had 3 miscarriages now and i think the risk of having another one or going through several transfers not working at all outweighs the risk of testing so we are hoping to have enough to test on our first round. Have you had another go since or got any normal ones?

@MeadowMouse yes i think its quite a personal decision isnt it. I think after 3 miscarriages i dont want to waste my time and more money on potentially several failed transfers or more miscarriages so for me i want to do it but its my first round and like you say you need to have enough to test really so i just hope i have enough to test!!

I think your doing the right thing to test, if that's what u feel is right for you and your partner. I'm with Prague so the testing is working out a bit cheaper. When I heard the price in ireland I nearly fell over 😂🙈
I'm 37 next month and unfortunately they are never able to retrieve many eggs from me. So in March I had 5 eggs collected (only one mature) 2 more matured in lab but only one embryo made it to day 5 for testing! I'll prob have to do a few more rounds to get one or two healthy embryos

Thank you sharing your experiences. We were looking for some unknowns and got on this discussion.
We had 2 IVF cycles and getting on with 3rd in weeks time. Age 38.
1st IVF - Fresh transfer resulted in miscarriage and 2nd transfer went in chemical pregnancy.
2nd IVF (with new clinic) we opted for PGT-A for all 4 embryos; all 4 looked good and great. However we received report day before; 2 of those were abnormal and 2 were mosaic. Dr said none of these are ready for transfer.

Nothing seems working for us so far. Doctor suggested for next cycle and we are waiting to get started. We are worried about next; on number of embryos and PGT-A coming positive.

Meanwhile we trying to research on 2 of mosaic embryos (3 chromosomes - 1 with 45% and 2 with 40% duplication). Few blogs and research talk on mosaic could potentially give healthy new born; we are yet to discuss this with clinic.

Not sure at this stage we have any control how embryo's would result in next round.

hereshoping123 · 04/08/2023 20:01

@SnowBrd have you joined the fb page 'my perfect mosaic embryo'? There's loads of hopeful stories on there and the members are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to mosaics.

I've a mosaic on ice which I plan to transfer. I have to give it a chance. I got loads of information on the group regarding my results. My embryo is missing part of chromosome 11 on long arm.

SnowBrd · 04/08/2023 22:41

@hereshoping123 thank you getting back.
We consulted cytogeneticist; they explained with one deletion of chromosome it would be safe. In our case 2 embryo's have multiple deletion and others have 3 duplication of chromosomes.
They said duplications will not be good ones they will fail to implant or may lead to miss.

We will try to learn more. One of IVF doctor did say they will relook at our embroys as last to asses. For now we are working on new cycle.

hereshoping123 · 04/08/2023 22:49

@SnowBrd wishing you all the best on your next cycle🤞🤞
My head was so frazzled trying to read the pgt results. It's so overwhelming.
I actually just did another EC today, however only 3 mature eggs from this round so odds are already stacked against us for a healthy embryo 😔

CR7 · 05/08/2023 11:18

I had two rounds of ivf and sent embryos for pgta testing both times.

Round one - sent 3 and two came back normal
Round two - sent 4 and one came back normal.

Every round can be different xx

Hello everyone, I just wanted to come back and update this thread. We did our second round of IVF in June, got 3 blastocysts from 6 eggs, and I'm now 15 weeks pregnant! We didn't do any testing - decided to just go for a fresh transfer and amazingly it stuck. Thank you for all the lovely supportive messages and information when I was feeling very low after miscarrying. You helped so much.

Hope the pregnancies are going well, I think one of you must have given birth by now! Xx
