Do I need to go straight for IVF?

Long story short..
I have one blocked fallopian tube and one healthy clear one.

Since I had pelvic surgery where I was diagnosed with one tubal blockage I have been told natural conception is highly likely - but I'm struggling to believe this. (Prior to this surgery I wouldn't have got pregnant anyway due to the location of my ovaries - this has now been sorted - had been trying over a year).

I'm on cycle 4 since the surgery (which I know sounds like early days) but I'm really dubious that this won't happen naturally.

Am I being unreasonable - I'm so scared I won't get pregnant naturally. My doctor has also wrote in my notes that I'm not to be referred for nhs ivf until at least a year of trying after my surgery!

Should I go straight for (private) IVF or is natural conception definitely a strong possibility? 😣

It’s hard to say really, many of us on the infertility board struggle to get pregnant even when everything looks normal.

How old are you? If you’re still young I’d try naturally for longer to see if the surgery helped.

Thank you - I'm 31.

I know nobody can tell me an answer really, I'm just hoping somebody has had the same experience as me 😔

I’ve had a similar ish experience. I have a damaged tube due to endometriosis, had surgery and then was told there was no reason I couldn’t get pregnant naturally with the one good tube.
We decided to go straight to IVF anyway and we froze 7 embryos last Jan. Due to various things going on we didn’t transfer until September. We were still trying between Jan-Sept and nothing happened, so technically another 8 months of trying with nothing. We transferred an embryo and it worked first time and im now nearly 30 weeks pregnant.
I still don’t think it would have ever happened naturally but obviously no way of knowing for sure.
Has your partner also been checked for any issues?

@Caz113

Thank you so much for replying. That's interesting... i haven't even been given a reason as to why my tube is blocked! Surgeon thinks congenital but apparently sometimes these things are medically unexplained.

My partner hasn't been tested yet - we decided in 6 months he'll get a test if still no further.

I don't think I'm going to even be able to get on the nhs waiting list as my surgeon put in my notes I'm not to pursue fertility treatment for a year minimum of trying!! That's how optimistic he is but I'm just hugely doubting it.

I'm so pleased you are pregnant 🥹💖💖

@onlygetitinmynightdress have you had your egg reserve and follicle count checked? That should give you a bit more information about how much time you have to wait before needing to move to IVF. Also a good idea to get your partner checked so you have a complete picture before deciding what to do.

I have 2 completely clear tubes, still couldn't concieve naturally.
