Regular cycles, but still cannot conceive

Hello everyone! I am 26 and have been trying to conceive for nearly 2 years. I have my period every 28 days, sometimes a couple days more or one day less. I hoping there are people out there who know about or have experienced the same.. What are the possible reasons what are the possible reasons for this? Have you ever been in the same position and found out what the problem was? What was your outcome? Is this a sign that my issues are MOST LIKELY untreatable or require very expensive treatments/surgeries? I feel really horrible about my outlook. My best educated guess is that the problem is NOT hormonal due to my regular cycles, and therefore would not be treatable with hormonal therapies… I do have an appointment at a clinic that is several months away... but I would really like to set realistic expectations, because the years of wondering has gotten unbearable. If this sounds like a case that would most likely end up with me finding out I can never have kids, or would have to spend my last penny in order to do so, I would really appreciate that knowledge going into my appointment.. I’d just really like to have reasonable expectations so I can learn to cope.. I would be very grateful for any insights anyone may have!

It could be any reason, from a problem of the quality of your partner’s sperm to having one or both tubes blocked. The best is that you get assessed by a professional to check on you and advice you what is the next move. You could book an initial consultation with any fertility clinic so they scan you and advice what seems to be happening.

@AllieKomorosky endometriosis for me which came as a big shock as I have no symptoms whatsoever. I did IVF and had a baby.

Unfortunately female reproductive health is really complex and regular cycles aren’t a guarantee of normal ovulation … you could be not ovulating, ovulating too late, eggs aren’t the right size/quality, and still have regular cycles as your womb lining sheds regardless of whether an egg is there or not. Beyond ovulation, there be could lots of other issues eg hormones, immune system, blocked tubes, uterine lining. It’s much easier, cheaper and more pleasant (!) to get men tested, I would do that asap for peace of mind.

I had regular periods and conceived my first easily but my second took over a year until I was put on hormones to induce ovulation, then I conceived instantly. I had all the signs of ovulation, so who knows what the hell my body was up to!

Good luck with the clinic. Don’t let the doctors fob you off because you’re young and have regular periods. I had to really push hard to be taken seriously because I was <35 and had a child, they just told me to “keep trying” even though I knew something was wrong. Make sure you see a specialist because even GPs don’t have a full understanding of female fertility.

You’re young, so you have age and time on your side. I don’t think you should accept this won’t happen for you yet ♥️

Has your man been tested?. It could well be male factor issues; subfertility is not the sole preserve of the female

He should also attend this forthcoming appointment and be tested further. One semen analysis is not fully conclusive of there not being male factor issues.
