Myomectomy to improve chances of IVF

I was wondering if anyone had experienced a laproscopic myomectomy to remove fibroids prior to IVF and what their experiences were like.
I have 3 small fibroids of note (one that's 3cm more or less and two smaller ones) in the fundus of my uterus. I've had them for years without any issues and the larger one was about twice the size when I was pregnant a couple of years ago.
We've been TTC for the past 6 months with no luck (I'm 42 with v low ovarian reserve) and despite being told that the "big" fibroid isn't really invading the uterus cavity very much, my fertility doctor wants them removed before embryo transfer (assuming we get an embryo to transfer!) as their location could reduce chances of implantation by around 30%.
I'm obviously not delighted at the prospect of any of this and wondered if anyone has been in the same boat (fibroids that are not really an issue but that have to be removed due to IVF). I'm based in the US and sometimes worry that things get a bit "procedure heavy" here.

Hi, I had the same procedure about a month ago. In my case one of the fibroids had grown so large it was pushing the uterus and distorting it’s shape. The IVF doc felt this would make it difficult to transfer any embryos and for implantation. I was worried about any additional scarring on the uterus, I have already had one c-section. In the end the procedure went well according to the doc and I recovered pretty quickly. Have a check up in a couple of weeks to see if the uterus has moved back to where it should be but in any case he was able to remove 3-4 of the fibroids and tidy up some of the scarring left after my first c- sections (there were some complications with bleeding). Hopefully I’ll be back to a clean slate and can being with the FET process! Fingers crossed it works out for you too.
