Dear ladies, I am 42. I am post emergency laparoscopy operation (2 years ago) because of the burst cyst in the ovary. Currently diagnosed hydrolaspix in other side. Post operation part of my right ovary was cut. As result My AMH is 0, undetectable. Is there anyone who managed to have successful IVF stimulation to retrieve eggs? Do you know any clinic who specialises in difficult IVF cases /extremely low AMH?

Hi @Londong you could try and contact Create Fertility for a consultation. I don’t know if they have a minimum AMH requirement but they often work with women over 40. Have you had a scan to check your Antral follicle count? That would give you another indication of egg reserve.

hi Ifitistobesaid. Thank you, i will check them.

@Londong in your position I would be looking at clinics that statistically have the best results for older women. Information about success rates is available of the hfea website www.hfea.gov.uk/choose-a-clinic/. I know Create market themselves as good for over 40s but there are other clinics with better results for the age range, crgc in London have far above average stats for 38 + , argc also come out above average ( but are hugely expensive). This isn't an anti Create post they have a particular appoarch (mild ivf) that may or may not be right for you. My best advice is do your research speak to multiple clinics and see which one works best for you.

I did 2 rounds of ivf in my 40s I wish I had known a bit more about the options before diving in.

Bryterlayter1 thank you for suggestions. Could you please let me know what do you mean by "I wish I had known a bit more about the options before diving in."

What is that you found out later?

Have you been advised to take DHEA? My amh is also less than 1 and has been for years. But I have poi.

Londong · 31/12/2022 16:02

IVFlife - i had unsuccessful egg thawing from frozen eggs, only recently few weeks ago started considering fresh cycle IVF. I went to couple of clinics but no one mentioned DHEA. I only learned about it here on the forum. I understand it is advised with low testosterone levels. I am going to do tests to find out my levels. AMH that i did 4 months ago was undetectable - level 0, high FSH 20. Since then i started taking Chinese herbs so i am going to check my hormones' again plus DHEA levels. I am grateful for all messages here. I learn a lot.

@Londong yes sorry, that was vague.

Statistically speaking I belive it's 1 in 4 blastocyst embryos that will be euploid (chromosonally nornal) for women in the age bracket of 40-42. Most cycles are only going to produce 1 or 2 embryos per cycle (this varies of course but for older women it's unusual to have loads of embryos) so it's more.likely than not that women over 40 will need multiple cycles to get one viable "normal" embryo. If time is running out banking embryos (doing multiple cycles before transferring) might be a sensible option, rather than transferring between cycles and therefore stretching out the time between cycles and increasing the age at egg retrieval.. Also testing embryos to find the "normal"/euploid ones would also be something I would do in future if I were to do further cycles. I'm unlikely to do further cycles as I was successful (which took 2 cycles and 4 embryos) and feel too old now to try for a sibling.

I am very thankful that it did work, but I didn't find that clinics talked through all the options (different protocols, banking, testing etc). I found out far more reading these forums. Good luck on your journey.
