Hi all
We are due to start our first IVF cycle next month. 38yo, TTC 3yr with no BFP.
All our fertility tests are normal and we are therefore classed as unexplained.
I have Hashimotos underactive thyroid, I saw an endocrinologist several yrs ago when I was diagnosed and had high antibody levels on my blood test - can't remember the numbers. My TSH is ok currently as I am on thyroxine.
I asked the consultant at our NHS appt if the antibodies could be the cause of infertility / affect IVF, he didn't really answer the question and just said you are unexplained so we don't know.
However there are several studies I have found which do say there is a link between this and infertility / failed IVF which could be linked to antibodies in utero.
Has anyone had successful IVF with thyroid antibodies and no other treatment eg. Steroids? Looks like the NHS don't give them routinely.
Just looking for some hope going into the cycle so I don't feel it's doomed from the outset!
