Giving yourself a huge injection - anyone?

I'm hoping for a bit of advice here. I'm doing FET in January and am currently in the middle of a mock cycle. There's only one injection - a single large dose of decapeptyl which needs to be on the day of my uterine thickness measurement ultrasound.

I don't have anyone to help me administer it right now so I've been madly googling videos to see how it's done. It's meant to be intramuscular (so, in the butt) and obviously that's not happening while I'm on my own here 😂so I'll need to do it in my thigh. But has anyone else had to do this and are there any pitfalls to beware?

I'm quietly sweating about this, stressing about the whole procedure of mixing the solvent in, switching the needles midway, etc. My GP just says that since they didn't prescribe it, they won't administer it.

Anyone relate?

I had to have this injection and my clinic would not 'allow' me to administer it myself, I got a private GP appointment and they did it. I had already had the injection prescribed along with my other IVF medication and the GP did the mixing and injected it into my arm, I'm pretty sure that was the instruction from the clinic.
That said it didn't seem very difficult and I probably could have done it myself but I just didn't want to take any chances since they went on about it so much (clinic was abroad which is why I didn't just go there).

@LongerthanMrTicklesarms I was in the same boat!

In the end I watched several videos about "intramuscular injection" into the thigh, including one that showed me exactly where it should be done and how to grab the flesh before you inject. I also found a couple of videos on how to prepare everything, and in the end, although it was very nerve-wracking, it was surprisingly easy and painless.

I actually looked down in surprise thinking I'd somehow missed my leg, because it didn't hurt.

Now I will add, however, that a week later I still have a bit of a "bruise" feeling at the site, but that's because it's a one-month dose so some of it's still there doing its magic.
