Unexplained infertility/IVF eligibility

Hi all,
I may be being too soon to panic but a few months ago I had a laparoscopy/dye test/hysteroscopy, as my specialist suspected endometriosis. All came back clear, including the biopsy that confirmed I ovulated as I should etc. I am 24 and have been trying to get pregnant for somewhere around 3-4 years, most of that doing ovulation tests and really trying. I have severe pain when I’m on and this inability to fall pregnant sparked the investigations.

I got discharged today by the service, I was lucky and had an NHS-funded private specialist who seemed like he could really help before the op but today he explained that my pain is normal and that it’s unusual I wouldn’t fall pregnant but that’s ‘just how it is sometimes’ which is ok and he’s correct but it was a bit heartbreaking. He suggested a semen analysis which he hopes NHS can do, but wasn’t confident that the NhS would fund any fertility treatment as it’s not a priority which I understand, and because my partner has a daughter already.

I would be happy with my life even if I can’t have a baby as I have a wonderful stepdaughter and my fiancé is wonderful. I just feel this sadness that I had hopes he would have a solution.

my question is this: I understand eligibility for NHS funded fertility treatment is kind of a lottery based on where you live, but I’m struggling to find the specific info online.
I live in Black Country, but I believe my GP falls under Staffordshire. Do either of these authorities allow any help if your partner already has a child?

any help would be appreciated, it wasn’t the easiest appointment.

Title should be ‘treatment’ not IVF, sorry! Brain is frazzled

Suggest being tested for endometriosis of the periods are as bad as you say. That can also affect infertility.

I'm not a doctor, this is not a diagnosis, so definitely check with a specialist.

Definitely worth ruling out the possibility of male factor infertility.

The lap/hysteroscopy I had a few months ago was to rule out endo, I was very pleased to find out I don’t have it thankfully, I guess next step is double checking my partner has no issues. Specialist seemed to think it must be me 🙁

With your partner having a child already then no you won't be eligible for funding

On the "plus" side however you are still young and can still go down the IVF route - just privately - there are lots of funding options available now and money back finance companies like Access

Also worth having a progesterone test xx

But male factor should be the first thing you look at ideally xx
