Suspected stenosis - cervix dilation - ICSI advice

Hello.. DH and I are finally on the next step of our fertility/infertility investigation journey and have had our initial appointments with gynaecology.

I have been booked in for a cervical dilation after the Dr had a probe around ahead of a HSG and found my cervix to be closed - suspecting stenosis.

I have had 2 previous LLETZ procedures which would likely have caused this if it is the case.

The probing was really quite uncomfortable, especially when my cervix was clamped, so I am really nervous about the dilation procedure. The first attempt is happening under local anaesthetic but I'm still concerned that it's going to be an uncomfortable process. Can anyone share experience and how they found it?

Also, should I be ok to drive afterwards? I need to attend alone as DH can't get out of work that day. It's only local anaesthetic so assume I will be ok to - and can always check with the hospital too. I'm just not sure what the pain will be like once that wears off.

DH also has low mobility so the two of us haven't had much chance getting things going naturally by the sounds of things. Assuming all is sorted with the dilation and no issues are found during a subsequent HSG, we will be referred for ICSI, which also makes me nervous with the risks involved with that. Arghh.. such a lot to think about!

I'd like to think after the dilation that there's a small chance things might happen naturally but I am also not pinning much hope on it given the long 2 years we have had so far. Neither of us have children/ever been pregnant and are in our mid 30s.

I'm grateful things are moving forward with the investigations but at the same time scared to have hopes too high.

If you're still reading, thank you. Any advice or words of reassurance at all on any of the above is most appreciated.

Hopefully you'll never read this because you're too busy being a parent, but I also just found out (and had treatment for) stenosis after lletz. We are also about to get icsi after a very very long wait. My amh is very low so unlikely to succeed, and am also too scared to hope highly. I was sedated for the dilation bit which I'm glad for and am a bit sore today but not too bad at all (was yesterday around this time). Dr said it might close again before next month when any possible embryos will be put in.

I guess I'm just writing this across time, replying to you two years ago and putting it down for someone else in the future who'll be going through the same. I've not found many stories about it and it's nice to not feel alone.
